Stages of Development

  • Month 1

    Month 1

    The embryo is developing quickly. The heart, brain , spinal cord, lungs, face, arms, legs, ears, eyes, are in progress. The heart will begin beating at the end of the month
  • Month 2

    Month 2

    Arms and legs are becoming longer and more shapely. eyes take on color and eyelids form. head is large and repesents approximately 1/2 the b ody. Brain is growing and directing the baby's movement.
  • 3 Month

    3 Month

    Now called a fetus. Fetus moves often, but cannot be felt by mother. bones are growing. Kidneys are growing. kidneys begin their work. fetus now has fingerprints.
  • Month 6

    Month 6

    The fetus is 8-12 inches long and weigha 12-18 ounces. All organs are maturing. The fetus can hear sounds and breathing movements can occur. Fetus develops fat under the skin.
  • Month 9

    Month 9

    Fetus continuous to grow and develop. Movement will decrease as fetus has less room to move in the uterua. Fetus will move in the final position to prepare for birth.
