Even though you are in your first trimester you are not actually pregnant yet. Fertilization occurs about two weeks after the last period you had.

Fertilization Occurs
The sperm and the egg meet at one of the fallopian tubes, and make a zygote. The zygot has 46 chromosomes 23 from the father and 23 from the mother. After Fertilization the zygote travels down the fallopian tube and into the uterus (While all of this is happening cells are dividing very fast) Then the zygote becomes an embryo. -
Implantation
When the Embryo reaches the uterus it is now called a blastocyst. When it makes contact with the endometrium it goes into the uterine wall for nourishment, this process is called implantation. The placenta begins to form. -
It is the beginning of the Embryonic period. This is when the baby's brain, spinal cord, heart and other organs begin to form.
By the end of this week the baby looks like the tip of a pen. -
In this week the baby grows very fast. Basic facial features begin to appear and body details will start to show.

In this week the babys head begins to develop. His brain starts to grow and his face starts to shape. By the end of this week the baby will have nostrils and the eyes will begin to form.

Now the eyes are visible and the arms and legs are growing longer. Fingers begin to form, and ear shape starts showing. Also the bones develop and bend at the elbows.

The neck begins to form and the head starts getting rounder.

Now the baby is called a Fetus, red blood cells are beginning to form in your baby's liver and he has a human profile face. At the end of the First Trimester the baby is about 2 1/2 inches and weights about 14 grams

14 to 28 weeks. People say its the best trimester of pregnancy.

The baby's organs are vissible. The baby's skin is almost transparent. The body is starting to develop.

Baby can make faces, (frown, smile,) pee and maybe suck its thumb, Baby should measure 3.5 inches or so. His facial features start to develop. Their fingers stop webbing.

Baby measures 4 inches. Lungs begin to develop. The baby is forming tastebuds.

The baby is 4 1/2 inches long. The eyes of the baby moved closer to the front of the face. Also the ears are almost in their place. The baby has started growing toe nails. At this week you can do an ultrasound to see if your baby is a boy or a girl.

Soft cartilage hardens and convert into bones, first it happens in arms and legs. Baby is now 5 inches long. It's sweat glands start to develop.

Baby is about 5.5 inches long. You'll star feeling the baby starting to move a little bit. The ears are in the right place now.

The baby's five senses start to develop. The baby can now hear your voice. The baby is now 6 inches long.

The baby is now 6.5 inches long. You can tell if your baby is awake or sleeping because the baby moves. The lungs arent mature enough to breath but the baby practice to breath.

The baby is about 10.5 inches long now. The teeth buds are starting to convert. The baby now can move a little thir eyes.

The baby is now 11 inches long. The eyes, eyebrows and lips are beginging to be more noticable. The baby's eyes are starting to oppen but the eye color is not determined yet because of pigment.

If you put music the baby can "dance" or it will move because it can now hear. The babys lungs are preparing to breath correctly. Loud noises are now familiar to the baby.

The baby starts growing faster, The brain is growing. The lungs are growing inside the respiratory tree now has branches. His skin is translusent but getting a littlebit more opaque.

The baby now measures about 13.5 inches long. The baby wont grow as much as for height and it will grow more as to the sides (fat). The baby's skin will look more like a new born's skin.

The baby can now hear compleately. The baby can now inhale and exhale not compleatly but its improoving. The baby now is 14 inches long.

The baby now is 14.5 inches long. The baby now opens and closes her eyes, also the baby now sleeps and wakes up. The baby will hiccup every day normally from today and on. They dont bother the baby at all the hiccups are normal.

29 to 40 weeks

The baby is now about 46 cm long and weighs as much as about 2.27 kg and will continue to mature and develop body fat reserves.

Right now the baby will start kicking more, the baby's brain is developing rapidly. Most internal systems are well developed, but the lungs may still be immature.

By now the baby's eyes are completely open a good part of the time. The baby might have a good amount of hair by this week.

The baby's position changes to prepare itself for labor and delivery. The baby drops down in your pelvis, and usually his or her head is facing down toward the birth canal.

The baby continues to grow and mature. His or her lungs are nearly fully developed. The baby's reflexes are coordinated so he or she can blink, close the eyes, turn the head, grasp firmly, and respond to sounds, light, and touch.
