  • Anophtalmos and Microphtalmos

    Anophthalmos is a defect ware a child is born without one or both eyes. Microphthalmos is where a child is born with unusualy small eyes.Causes can be genetic mutations and abnormal chromosomes.
  • Hydrocephalus

    Is when spinal fluid is blocked in the brain and it causes the brain to swell. A treatment for hydrocephalus is to put a brain shunt in which releases the fluid.
  • Cleft Lip

    Is when there is an opening in the lip due to incomplete development in early fetal stages. Cleft lip happens in about every 1 in 1,000 babies. It is most common in Asian, Latino, or Native American descents. Cleft lip is treatable. Most babies can have surgery within the first 12-18 months of life.
  • Cystic Fibrosis

    Is a disease passed down through the family, it causes mucus to build up in the lungs, digestive tract, and other parts of the body. Some symptoms are delayed growth and no bowel movements in the first 24-48 hours of life. Cystic Fibrosis is diagnosed by 2 years old. Treatments include antibiotics, excersise, and chest therapy.
  • Autism

    Is a developmental disorder that appears in the first 3 years of life and affects the normal development of social and communication skills. There is no cure for autsim but there is treatments with education help. Taking antidepressants during pregnancy could cause autism.
