According to the Histroy.com editors it "helped establish the precedent that 'separate-but-equal' education and other services."

    The purpose of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is to set guidelines for public schools to provides students with a quality education for all students (Lee, n.d.). It helps create education plans for the students that must includ annual testing, school accountability, academic standards, state and local report cards, and plans for supporting and improving struggling schools (Lee, n.d.)
