Franciso Petrarch
The father of humanism creates a new philsophy that inspires Italian artists and writers. He is often called the Father of the Renaissance. This new idea was drastically different than the Dark Ages which proceeded this era because the focus is less on the religious and more so on actual man. -

Cosimo de Medici takes over his father's banking buisness and excerises his wealth and power to control the city of Florence and act as patron to the greatest artists of the Renasissance. -

Donatello's David
Donatello's casts out of bronze the Hebrew god David. Many have suggested that this statue reflects Donatello's homosexuality. This piece was one of the most well known and well regarded pieces from this era and remains to be a treasured masterpiece to this day. -

Botticelli
Sandro Botticelli paints his masterpiece "The Birth of Venus" and unveils it at Lorenzo Medici's Italian villa. The painting magically survived the wrath of the Roman Inquistion which degraded the painting for lewd images and heresy. -

Leonardo da Vinci begins work on the Mona Lisa. His paintings are just one facet of da Vinci. He also invented flying machines, military weapons and ground breaking work on human antomny. -

Rapheal
Often considered the best painter of his day, Rapheal was in his peak artistry condition when he created the Depostion of Christ. This painting is different from Rapheal's traditional style and is sometimes said to be the result of pressure from Michealangelo. -

Michealangleo's Greatest Work
One of the most enduring images of the Renaissance is the beautiful Sistine Chapel in Rome which took Michealangelo about four years to complete. Though the orginal plan was the twelve apostles agaisnt a starry sky the actual painting became a complex scene of creation. -

Niccolo Machiavelli publishes the contraversial novel "The Prince" which is based on ruthless life of Ceasre Borgia. The book is widely read and anazlyed today and remains an amazing portrait of the politics of the time. -

The End of an Era
Council of Trent establishes the Roman Inquisition 1545. These Inquisitions were the work of the churches which labeled the works of the Renaissance as heresy. The Renasissance Era is over.
