    Nguni groups colonized along the south-eastern coastline and in the Drakensberg interior.
    In the 1300s, the Nguni people traveled and settled along the coastline in South Africa. Due to this, the Highveld interior became overpopulated with people who spoke Sotho. Sotho soon split into into 3 different regional languages, such as, South Sotho, West Sotho, and North Sotho. Even though the languages are related, variety of culture is vital to be aware of. Because of the language differences, the Nguni people have become diverse, and they represented their heritage proudly in history.

    Vasco da Gama is mandated to expand on Dias' discoveries and they step foot in South Africa for the first time in History.
    As of July 8, 1497, Vasco da Gama expanded on Dias’ discoveries. As a foreigner, stepping foot into a new territory is a big deal. Since Vasco da Gama was from Portugal, he and his men carried new culture into South Africa, which caused South Africa to be one of the most diverse countries in the world. Today, South Africa continues to be a diverse country, due to the amount of travelers and people who have settled in Africa. People like Vasco da Gama, are those to give credit to.

    On august 18, 1518 King Charles V granted to transport 4,000 slaves directly from Africa to the Spanish American colonies.The reason the Europeans wanted to transport African slaves, because they wanted to expand the Europe population. The European did not know several items like Tobacco and were not occupied with silver and Gold. Since they thought that if they got more African slaves, then they would have more of a population to discover and produce more things.

    The Dutch found a colony in South Africa, and wanted to make a permanent settlement. The reason that the Dutch wanted to make it permanent was, because it was an attempt to exclude the British since they were in war with them. It made a difference, because now in Cape town they continue to experience social problems, full interrogation and others. It took place in Cape of Good Hope in 1652. When the British won they took over the colony permanently.

    The cape colony, otherwise known as Dutch India East Company, came to the South African region in 1652, and had an abolition in 1834.The Cape Colony would enslave the South African tribes and force them to do labor and continue the colony. The Zulu tribe would try to fight back, because they saw what they were doing was wrong and not acceptable. Eventually in 1703 the Zulu imprisoned the cape colony and pushed them out of south Africa. Until the British arrive and change the story.

    The British we interested in having control of Africa. In 1843 the British took control of the Boers and saw Zululand and wanted it for themselves. They saw the advantages that they would get if they took the land, and they were willing to do anything for it. The British noticed a few things that they wanted, like, slaves, diamonds, soldiers, and farmland, they were eager to have these things, because it gave them power and numbers in Africa. The Zulus were perfect for an army, so they attack.

    Since the British's want of Southern Africa, the British gave the Zulus a chance to surrender and give them the land and people, but the Zulu stood their ground. The next month, January 1879, the British invaded Zululand and they won. The Zulus moved further into their kingdom and got set up for the next invasion. They fought many battles for many months, some were wins, and some were losses, but they ended up victorious and kept the land successfully.

    In 1934, the parliament of South Africa declared the Status of the Union act. The parliament of South Africa is the African counterpart to the statue of Westminster. The status of the Union act declared the union of South Africa to be a sovereign state. It also adopted the statue of Westminster into the African law.     In 1994, the African national congress wins the first non- racial, democratic election.
    Nelson Mandela had won by 66%. Mandela, a former lawyer, and a political prisoner was the first non-white head of the southern African state. He was to take office after the apartheid system was taking down and the introduction of the democratic system. He was the oldest head of the office in African history, taking the title of head of the office at age seventy-five.

    President ZUMU Resigns
    In February of 2018, President Zuma resigns as president of the South African state. He had survived harsh judgments, and corruption in the first 9 years of his presidency. Being rejected by the ANC, cornered by opposing parties and abandoned by millions of former supporters, he was pressured into resignation. He has stated that he didn’t agree with ANC ordering him to resign, however he did so. He had been imprisoned on Robben island with Nelson Mandela and he had been ANC’s intelligent chief.
