    The Mercury program first flight had seven people and had eight flights total two had live monkeys and six had people. The program started in 1958 and ended in1963. The astronauts were chosen in 1959. The flights for people started in 1961.

    Gemini Program- Helped NASA get ready for moon landings
    The Gemini Program was to learn how astonauts can get to the moon. This program helped NASA with getting astronauts outside the spacecraft and connect two spacecrafts together. The program was from 1962 to 1966.

    The purpose of the Apollo program was to get man landed on the moon and return safely. Six of the flights were successful landing and one had a malfunction which was Apollo13. Before Apollo 11, Apollo 6 and 7 went around the earth and 8 orbited the moon. The program lasted from 1963 to 1972

    EVA stands for Extra-Vehicular activity and is going out of the spacecraft. In 1965 Ed White used a EVA suit and became the first person to walk in space.

    The first flight to the moon was in Apollo 8 and it was William Anders, Jim Lovell, and Frank Borman who were the first to orbit the moon. NASA heard the Soviet Union were going to orbit the moon so NASA had to fly there before they did.

    At the Kennedy Space Center is where Apollo 11 took off and the mission was to have two men land on the moon. The crew at the time was Neil Armstrong and Edwin E. Aldrin along with Michael Collins. This flight was to complete the goal of President John F.Kennedy.

    Apollo 17 was the last flight of the Apollo program ending it in 1972. All the programs went from 1958 to 1972.
