  • European intoduce diseases to Native People

    In 1634 to 1640 the Europeans introduced diseases to the Aboriginal people. Smallpox, killed lots of Aboriginal people. Huron Nation, were completely wiped out because of Smallpox in 1640.
  • Royal Proclamation.

    The Royal Proclamation in 1763 was agreed by King George III and Great Britain's acquisition. The Royal Proclamation continues to be legal to First Nations in Canada and significant for the variation of indigenous in the U.S.A.
  • Treaty of Paris.

    The Treaty of Paris, sometimes called Peace of Paris, was signed February 10th, 1763. The Treaty was made by the British over France and Spain, and marked the beginning of British dominance outside of Europe.
  • Robert Semple

    Robert Semple
    Robert Semple was born in London England. He was named after his father, Robert Semple Sr. He died June 19, 1816. The Metis thought that Robert Semple and his men declared war. So they got ready for just that. They went to war. Semple and most of his men died in war, but only one of the Metis soldiers died.
  • Ruberts Land

    Ruberts Land
    Ruberts Land wasowned by the Hudson Bay Company, for 200 years (1670-1870). This was the biggest purchase Canada has made. They bought it for £300,000 (1.5million dollars). This purchase affected Aboriginal people in the North West Territories after 1870. Seven Treaties were signed between the Federal Goverment and the Aboriginal people between 1871-1887. The Canadaian Goverment did not live up to what they agreed in the treaties though.
  • Treaty 1

    On August 3rd, 1871, treaty #1 was created by Queen Victoria and a various Aboriginal groups in Manitoba. They wanted a good treaty before any people came on their land and settled there.
  • Treaty #6

    Treaty #6
    Treaty #6 is an agreement between the Canadian Monarch and the Plain, Wood Cree Natives, and other Aboriginal people in the area. The Aboriginal people involved in this treaty took up most of Central Alberta and Saskatchewan. This treaty was signed in August 1867. The reason why this treaty was made was because at the time the buffalo were disappearing really fast. The chiefs realized that their people could starve to death because the buffalo were almost gone or they might get attacked.
  • Treaty 7

    Treaty 7 was an agreement between Queen Victoria and Blackfoot Aboriginnal people of the Bow River. This treaty took place September 22, 1877. The treaty was signed to show boundaries of Land. They were promised a payment from the Queen, promised to continue to hunt and trap in.
  • Treaty 8

    Treaty #8 is between the Aboriginal people, Government of Canada and Queen Victoria. It was signed June 21st, 1899.
  • Alberta & Saskatchewn Become A Part Of Canada

    September 1st, 1905, Alberta and Saskatchewn were purchased by the Canadian Government. They were then two new provinces in Canada.
  • Indian Act

    The Indian Act limited to cover Aboriginal people, not including Aboriginal People who married non-Native men.
  • Charter of Rights and Freedoms Enacted.

    Charter of Rights and Freedoms Enacted.
    April 17th, 1982 the Charter of Rights and Freedoms was put into place. It is the bill of rights, built into the Constitution of Canada. People can challenge the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Charter covers,Guarantee of Rights and Freedoms, Fundamental Freedoms, Democratic Rights, Mobility Rights, Legal Rights, Equality Rights, Official Languages of Canada, Minority Language Educational Rights
    Enforcement,General. Application of Charter, and Citation.
  • Yukon First Nations

    November 1991, Yukon First Nations signed an agreement on land claims & self-government.
  • Last Federally Ran Residential School Closes.

    November 1996, the Last Residential School ran Federally was closed.
  • Nunavut Is Formed From The East.

    April 1st, 1999, Nunavut became one of the biggest territories in Canada. Nunavut means "Our Land."
