  • The First Continental Congress

    The First Continetal Congress met in Philadelphia in 1774. There were 56 colonial delegates that meet including John and Sam Adams. The Congress met to discuss the crisis occuring Boston. The two big ideas that arose were that the colonists should try to make peace with the British and the other popular idea sugested by Patrick Henry that the colonists should fight the British. But a compromise was made that the colonists should still boycott British goods but the militia be ready to fight.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    In the early morning Colonel Benedict Arnold and Ethan Allen led a group of colonists to attack Fort Ticonderoga
  • The Declaration of Independance

    The Declaration of Independance was writen in April of 1775 to declare that the British are not respecting the colonists rights. The Declaration was writen by a committiee of five men. The committiee included John Adams, Thomas Jefferson,Benjamin Franklin and two other men. The Declaration was sighned by congress in July of 1775.
  • The Battle of Quebec

    When General Washington was blockading Boston, the colonists lead an attack into Canada. The purpose was to bring the Canadian colonists to the colonists' aid. The colonists won, and the Canadian army joined them.
  • The Capture of New York

    The British decided that New York was a great point for communications between the northern and southern colonies. Washington knew this too, and marched his troops from Boston to New York in April 1776. He had his troops stand on Long Island because he knew the British were going to come there. When the British came, Washington split his troops and sent them to the Hudson River. In the end, the British fell in trenches and the colonists won.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    Lord North was mad when he heard about the Boston Tea Party. Parliment decided to punish the colonists in 1777 Britian passed the Coercive Acts, which colonists referred to as the Intolerable Acts.
    1. Boston Harbor was closed until tea was paid for.
    2. Massachusetts Charter was cancelled and run by Britian.
    3. Royal Officials accused of crimes were sent to Britian for trial to be more fair.
    4. The Quartering Act made colonists give homes to British soilders.
    5. Gen. Thomas Gage became governor
