    While the Black Lives Matter organization was founded in 2013, Social Media played a massive roll during the year 2020. One particular instance that this was the case was for "Blackout Tuesday" on June 2nd, 2020. On this day, countless Instagram users posted a black tile with tags like #BLM and #BlackLivesMatter. Additionally, music artists abstained from releasing their content that day as well. All of this was done out of awareness and respect for the BLM Movement.

    Concerns of freedom of speech and other basic needs were expressed via social media in Cuba around this time. The internet helped to facilitate the expressed dissatisfaction via protests. People banded together over social media in order to share a higher standard and expectation for the government, wanting economic reform.

    When Russia invaded Ukraine, social media was ablaze with propaganda in support of Ukraine. Millions and millions of refugees fled and were found homes and safe places across the UK and in America. There was overwhelming welfare and aid provided for the country as a result of the social media awareness all over the world. Since the start however, both countries have been accused of spreading misinformation via social media to support their sides in this war.

    Elon Musk bought Twitter and instigated a frenzy of individuals and companies boycotting the app. Elon promised to better enforce "free speech" on the platform after excessive censorship on the platform. Users noticed a spike in racist comments and other questionable content that made Twitter less of a safe space. This is why companies like General Mills, Audi, and Pfizer boycotted the app.
