    Stock Market Crash
    The stock market crash was caused by people who purchased alot of things on credit, and when they couldnt they became in debt. This in turn slowed the flow of money to the banks, making them in debt too, by disabling their abilities with give money to people who wanted to withdraw from their bank accounts. Cause: People buying things and not being able to pay for them Effect: Ultimately, The Great Depression. People couldnt pay the banks, so the banks couldnt pay the people.

    Adolf Hitler appointed as Chancellor
    In 1933 Hitler was chosen to be Chancellor of Germany due to his support from citizens that were angry about The Treaty of Versailles and WW1. Hitlers propaganda accused Jews for the blame of WW1 being pinned on Germany which spurred many people to become antisemetic. With his group of racists, Hitler formed the Nazi party and eventually began deploying Gestapo troops to terrorize the Jews Cause: Hitler rallied supporters with his propoganda about Jews Effect: Many people became antisemetic

    On To Ottawa Trek
    The On To Ottawa Trek was a journey started by a group of men from British Columbia that were upset about their treatment in the Federal Relief Camps, so they rode trains, marched, and used other means of transportation in an attempt to cross the country to confront the Government about their problems with the hope that their treatment in the camps. Cause: Poor treatment in the camps caused the men to become upset. Effect: The Trek gets stopped in Regina where the Regina Riot Begins

    The Regina Riot
    The Regina Riot began when the On To Ottawa Trekkers were stopped in Regina to have their leaders speak to representatives of the PM and then the PM himself if they made the other Trekkers wait in Regina. The meeting with the PM went badly and when the leaders returned, the trekkers who tried to leave were blocked by RCMP. This ultimately caused The Regina Riot in which there were 120 arrests , 39 injuries and 2 killed Cause: RCMP didnt allow Trekkers to leave Regina Effect: A massive riot

    Munich Agreement
    The Munich agreement was a failed attempt to appease the Nazi Party by allowing them to annex Sudetenland, Czechoslovakia because Hitler demanded more territory. The agreement took place in Munich, Germany with all of the great powers of Europe present. Sudetenland important to Czechoslovakia, as most of its border defenses were situated there, they would later come into the power of Hitler Cause: Europe wanted to appease Nazi's so they wouldnt threaten war Effect: Hitler gains more territory

    Voyage of the St Louis 1939
    The St Louis was a German transatlantic liner that carried over 900 refugees and only one non refugee. the St Louis sailed from Hamburg, Germany, to Havana, Cuba only to be denied from docking at first but later 28 passengers were allowed to disembark from the boat. The St Louis then had to sail all the way back to Europe. Cause: Cuba didnt accept the refugees because they were "undesirable" Effect: Displayed an intolerance for refugees and immigrants which made an example for other countries

    Gassing of Jews Begins
    The first instance of gassings began at Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest of all the German concentration camps. Jews were made to walk into large underground rooms under the impression that they were to take shower where they were killed through the inhalation of Zyklon B, a cyanide based compound. Over half of the 6 million jews that were killed during The Holocaust were killed by gas chamber. Cause: Hitler wanted to wipe out the Jews Effect: Other countries took action against the murders

    Breaking of the Russia/Germany Truce: Operation Barbarossa
    Operation Barbossa was the largest military invasion in history and was conducted by the Germans on Russia. The invasion broke the peace agreement between Germany and Russia. After the invasion, Russia began fighting agaisnt Germany as well. Hitlers desire for more and more territory spurred this operation that would require 4000000 troops, 600,000 motor vehicles and 750,000 horses. Cause: Hitler desired more territory snd decided to invade Russia. Effect: More people fighting against Germany

    D-Day
    At 6:30AM, allied forces began landing on the beaches of Normandy in an effort to retake it. Landings came in the form of paratroopers and soldiers from boats. The allied forces chose to invade Normandy because it was the least fortified coastal area and with their air force, they were able to cut off the path for reinforcements from the Axis forces. Cause: Allied forces needed more territory in Europe to close in on Germany Effect: Allied forces gained their desired territory
