    The Highland economy had now collapsed and the population was still growing. This forced landlords to evict people from their homes, people then decided to move to Canada for a better life.
  • Charles Fenetry discovers practical way to make paper

    He created a way to make paper from wood pulp.
    He was from Sackville, New Brunswick and because of this Canada became the largest export for pulp and paper in the world.
  • Highlands Potato Famine

    After the potato famine had started in Ireland and spread to some parts of Scotland the people living there were starving. After having potatos as a large part of their meals for years people no longer had food to eat.

    Canada did their best to make our country very open to others, the restrictions originally stated that if you were penniless, aimless or otherwise shiftless you would not be admitted into Canada.
