Scientific Timeline

  • Gregor Mendel

    Gregor Mendel
He noticed that certain traits of pea plants followed patterns. This is now part of the Mendelian Inheritance, which is a description of how characteristics of some plants are passed on from there parent cells. He cross pollinated yellow round pea plants and wrinkly green pea plants, and he noticed the yellow dominated.
  • Gregor Mandel

    Gregor Mandel
He figured the inheritance which describes how you inherit traits from parents or others things
  • Frierich Miescher

    Frierich Miescher
He was the first researcher to isolate and identify nucleic acid. Meicher isolated various phosphate-rich chemicals, which he called nucleon. His lab was his kitchen.
  • Frederick Sanger

    Frederick Sanger
He is known for the sepuence of insulin by amino cells.
  • Frank Griffith

    Frank Griffith
He did an experiment he thought would help others point out that DNA is a molecule of inheritance.
  • Erwin Chargaff

    Erwin Chargaff
Noticed that there was a pattern that accured in the four bases which are: adenine, guanine, and cytosine.
  • Oswald Avery

    Oswald Avery
Avery is best known for discovering that DNA is the material of which genes and chromosomes are made
  • Maurice Wilkins

    Maurice Wilkins
He discovered he structure of DNA-made first accurate model of DNA.
  • Hershey & Chase

    Hershey & Chase
They conducted an extraordinary experimen that helped to convince the world that DNA was genetic material.
  • Rosalind Franklin

    Rosalind Franklin
Known for her work on X-ray diffraction images of DNA.
  • James Watson & Francis Crick

    James Watson & Francis Crick
They discovered the structure of DNA.
  • Thomas Hunt Morgan

    Thomas Hunt Morgan
He proved that genes or genetic material is carried on chromosomes by his experiments with fruit flies.
  • John Sulston

    John Sulston
Awarded for the work they had done in understand the delvelopment and dividing of cells in C elegans.
