October 1939, Schnidler moves from Svitavy to take over some German operations.

By moving, Schnidler takes advantage of "germanizing" and takes over Jewish and Polish businesses.

After Schnidler took over businesses he took a manufacturing plant and established "German Enamelware Factory" in November 1939, also known as Emalia.

Schnidler ran 2 other factories in Kraków, only at Emalia did he employ Jewish workers that came from the ghetto, 1939.

At the preak of Emalia in 1944, they employed over 1,700 workers and at least 1,000 were Jewish forced workers.

During the liquidation of the Krakow ghetto in March 1943, Schindler allowed his Jewish workers to stay at the factory overnight.

The SS redesigned Plazow, a concentration camp, in Augest 1943. Schnidler convinced the SS to turn Emalia into a sub-camp which saved another 450 Jews to live there.

After soviets liberated the camp, Schnidler and his wife settled in Germany then separated in 1957.

Schnidler was awarded "Righteous Among the Nations" in recognition of trying to save the Jews. He died broke and unknown in October 1974.
