-
Hirohito was born on April 29th 1901
-
He was 25 when he became emperor after his father died. He rarely spoke to the people and many of them never saw him.
-
Japan invaded Mancharo in northeast asia
-
Hirohito did have an intrist in the war although he did not have a big input on what the Japanese military did
-
Japan thought they were racially superior and wanted more natural resources and land. So they militarized and joined the war on the Nazi's side.
-
Japan was doing stuff without the approval of the empower and Hirohito did not like that. One example of this was the attack on Pearl Harbor. Hirohito wanted to warn the U.S. about the attack but his request was quickly denied and the attack happened the very next day.
-
The Prime Minister of Japan was now a military general after all of the politicians who were going to be prime ministers were assassinated. The military was now in control and often made decisions without the emperor's input.
-
Hideki Tojo was the prime minister of Japan and the war was not going Japan's way so because the people of Japan looked up to the emperor so much he made a speech saying that people needed to make sacrifices in the emperor's name. Trying to do anything he can to keep japan in the fight.
-
Hirohito was not going to let the Japanese people suffer any longer and he told general McArthur that Japan was going to surrender.
-
Hirohito was well aware that he could be executed for his country's crimes during WW2. But even though he was not completely responsible for Japan's actions, he told General Macarther that he took all the responsibility. After this speech, General MacArthur was moved and motivated to allow Hirohito to keep his position and not be tried for war crimes.
-
Hirohito was able to keep his position and was an important part of Japan's rebuild. Unlike before Hirohito regularly was seen and spoke to the people giving the people more confidence in their emperor. Also, he was now making decisions under the careful eye of the U.S. and he often let the U.S. make decisions, and in the long run that helped Japan a lot.
