  • The UN Peacekeeping Force

    The UN peacekeeping force – UNAMIR – is established and 2,500 soldiers from 23 countries are deployed. General Romeo Dallaire is appointed as Force Commander

    General Dallaire receives an anonymous letter from within the Rwandan army warning of a plan to murder Tutsis to prevent the Arusha Accords from being implemented.
  • Rwandan Geonocide

    Massive Murder over 500,000 people were killed, It was the longstanding competition and tension of Tutsi who powered the hutu peoples, to the rebellion of 1959-62.
  • General Dallaire Sends A Message

    General Dallaire sends a message to the UN headquarters describing the killings based on ethnic grounds. He related how the killings were planned, systematic and carried out by state officials. This is a key part of the path to genocide.
