RTI team member will contact parent about concerns the school is having about the student's progress in school and request permission to do a screening. If written, parent consent is given, a team member will do a screening to find out where is student currently is either academically or behaviorally.

RTI meeting is held with parent to discuss screening results. RTI team (which includes parent) decides if accommodations are needed and implement a plan. The team will then decide on when to remeet to discuss progress, usually 9 weeks.

If student is making adequate progress, then plan can remain the same or minor changes may occur. If student is not making adequate progress, the plan can add more tiers of support. Team will remeet in 9 weeks to discuss progress or sooner if needed.

Request for initial evaluation can be done by parent or public agency. Once informed, written consent is given by the parent, evaluation must take place within 60 days.

If student is making adequate progress, plan will remain the same and the team will meet again in 9-12 weeks. If student is not making adequate progress, the team may decide at this point to refer the student for testing.

IEP team including parent, student (if appropriate), administration, teachers, OT/PT, Speech, etc. meet to discuss evaluation and decide if special education services are appropriate at this time. If it is appropriate, an IEP will be written to address the student's needs.
