  • French and Indian War

    The start of the french and indian war. This was the first war that the colonies were apart of. The English taxed the colonies heavily to help repay the war debt which lead to discontent in the colonies. This discontent would lead to the Revolutionary War
  • Royal Proclamation

    The Royal Proclamation is signed. This forbids any settling past the Appalachian mountains that was labeled as a Native American reservation. This land was given back the US during the signing of the treaty of Paris
  • Stamp Act

    The stamp act was passed onto the colonists. The colonists had a stamp on most printed materials that signified the tax on the item. This tax led to discontent towards the British
  • Quartering Act

    The Quartering act was passed. This allowed British Soldiers to live in the colonists house. The British would take their space and food and give nothing in return. the soldiers also soon started to take their jobs as well. This led to animosity towards the soldiers and the King.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre happens. The fatalities were small but were used as a Propaganda tactic. The southern states were targeted to gain support against the British.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The boston tea party happens. The colonists were boycotting the tea because of taxes and decided to dump the tea into the harbor. This led to the harbor being closed which would ruin the economy. This was the first act against the Britsh
  • First Continental Congress

    This was when all 13 (except Georgia) met together. This was the first attempt at organizing resistance to the British. This was made against the Coercive Acts.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord happen. This is the first battle of the Revolutionary war. This was an American victory and forced the British back into Boston.
  • Second Continental Congress

    The Second Continental Congress commenced. The meeting formed to make a way for the continental army to get soldiers. This affected the revolution because it gave the Americans a fighting chance against the British.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence was signed. The Declaration of Independence signified the colonists really wanted to be separated from England.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The treaty of Paris is signed. The revolution officially came to an end. This recognized the US as a free country
