The first successors of Romulus
To populate the newly created city, Romulo accepted all kinds of fugitives, refugees and uprooted from neighboring cities, of Latin origin. The colony was formed entirely by men, but to build a city, women were also needed. They then set their eyes on the daughters of the Sabinos, who inhabited the neighboring hill of Quirinal. -

The betrayal of Tarpeya
Before leaving for the battlefield, Romulus entrusted the custody of the city to the young Tarpeii, but she, secretly in love with the king of the Sabinos, or yearning for a reward, promised the enemy monarch to show him a hidden path that led to the Capitol (where the Latin fortress was), in exchange for what he wore on his left arm, alluding to a king's gold bracelet. Indeed, the Sabinos reached the city thanks to the indications of Tarpeya, but instead of handing him his bracelet. -

Romulus and Rowing
Rome was founded, according to tradition, by two twin brothers, Romulus and Remus, who, accompanied by bandits and tramps expelled from their own cities, decided to found a new settlement next to the Tiber. However, the two brothers did not agree on where they would build their city. Rowing preferred the Aventine promontory, while Romulus leaned down the Palatine Hill. So, they decided to leave their dispute at the discretion of the gods and - each one placed on their hill. -
