Rock's influence spread rapidly fast and had been heard internationally due to it being heard in movies, the radios and on the TV. The genre of Rock music had sold 43% of records by the end of the decade.

    Elvis Presley was the number one rock music artist in the '50s. In 1956, Presley had three songs in the international top ten singles and two albums in the international top five albums.

Despite that, many bands such as The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Who, Grand Funk and Led Zeppelin play to thousands or stadiums. Rock music is also processing a phase of heavy metal.

However, A lot more rock artists and bands gained fame after MTV is available in over 2,000 cable systems. Thus the public gets to watch rock music 24/7 like rap, hip hop and heavy metal. A variety of female artists gain fame which is shown in their single and album status.

    In 1983, Michael Jackson releases his album 'Thriller' which tops the charts for 22 weeks! This album also hit's #1 in the UK and becomes the best selling album of all time. Seven of the ten singles in the album made the top 10

    In the '90s, Hip-Hop has majorly expanded. Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, Salt n' Pepa, Ice T, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Tupac Shakur, Cypress Hill and many other artists and bands had huge growth in sales due to their publicity on the radio.
