    Rock music was created in the late 1940s early 1950s some say it was created by Chuck Berry others might disagree though; it originated from African American music such as jazz, rhythm and blues, boogie-woogie, gospel, jumping blues as well as country music in 1945 –1954 many singers, guitarists, and others like Fats Domino, Roy Brown, Big mama Thronton, Ruth Brown, and Sister Rosetta Tharp that inspired many early rock artists.

    On August 13,1952 Big mama Thronton recorded the song “Hound Dog” and released the song late February 1953 with peacock records it was one of the biggest hits selling over 500,000 copies and spending 14 weeks in the R&B charts. A few years later Elvis Presley made a cover of the song in 1956 and it became the most successful version of Mama Thornton's song reaching number one in R&B's country and pop charts.

    On February 3, 1959 Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, “The Big Bopper” J.P. Richerdson, and pilot Roger peterson all died in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa trying to get to the next place for there tour and this day in america was known as the day the music died due to some of the greatest musicians passing away and in 1971 the song “American Pie” by Don Mclean was released as a memorial song for these musicians and a comfort song for the U.S

They appear on the Ed Sulliave show three separate times many people thought this to be the beginning of the british invasion

    The idea that made MTV was a combination of airplay of the few available music videos and to keep them playing 24 hours a day. The first ever video that played on MTV was “Video Killed The Radio Star” by the Buggles and then it was followed by a brief message of music and tv coming together and then they started playing “You Better Run” by Pat Benatar and it completely changed the music industry
