    The colony mysteriously disappeared.When John White came back for England he founed a single word --- “Croatoan”—carved into a wooden post. “Croatoan” was the name of an island south of Roanoke that was home to a Native American tribe of the same name.Perhaps, then, the colonists were killed or abducted by Native Americans.

  • King Phillip's war

    Tensions between Puritan settlers and Wampanog Indians under metacom (King Phillip) breaks out in to war at Massachusetts in what is called King Pillip's war. They had become increasingly dependent on English goods, food, and weapons, and their bargaining power diminished as the fur trade dried up, tribal lands were sold, and Metacom and other leaders were forced by the colonists to recognize English sovereignty.The war ended in August 1676, shortly after Metacom was captured and beheaded.

  • Georgia founded

    Geogia is settled . James Olgethorpe founded it between South Caroilna and Flordia. In February 1733, James Oglethorpe began implementing plans for the new town of Savannah. A pine forest on the Yamacraw Bluff, overlooking the south bank of the Savannah River, was cleared.
    After several delays, they boarded the Anne for a two-month journey across the Atlantic. Following a brief visit in Charleston, the colonists proceeded to Port Royal, South Carolina's southernmost outpost.
