The Proclamation Line of 1763 was enforced as a result of the French and Indian War. It stopped westward expansion which meant colonists were not allowed to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. The effect of this was that the colonists got angry. The Stamp Act was a tax on all printed goods. This included things like newspapers, almanacs, pamphlets, legal documents, dice, and playing cards. As a result of this, the act was met with much resistance from the colonists. This sparked the creations of the Sons of Liberty and the Daughters of Liberty. It also was the start to a long series of boycotts on the taxed items.

The Quartering Act stated that colonists house to house and feed British soldiers. In return, the British had to deal with even more resistance from colonists. The colonists did not want to have to spend even more and the little number of resources or money they had to house and feed British soldiers, who they didn't even want there.

The tea act was a tax placed on tea. It forced the American colonists to buy tea from the British East India Company. The Boston Tea party came as a result of the Tea Act. The Tea party was led by Sam Adams. He had gathered a group of colonists and they had dressed up as Natives and boarded a British ship that was carrying tea. Together the colonists dumped hundred of barrels of tea into the Boston harbor. The cost of all the tea was around 1 million dollars. In response, the King of Britain saw this event as a direct threat to British rule. This played the course for the Coercive/Intolerable Acts.
-
The Intolerable acts were placed as a punishment for the colonists because of the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Port Act effectively shut down the Boston Port. This put a strain on all businesses because Boston was on the coast and thrived off of import/export. The Second Quartering Act did the same as the first one; it forced colonists to house and feed British soldiers. The intolerable acts were a major turning point in the "Pre-Revolutionary" Period because it made people want independence.
