    The French and Indian war was basically a fight for terriorty. The British and Americans spent millions of dollars to fund the war but the Americans didn't really get anything in return. When France surrendered all land east of the Mississippi was given to the British. The significance of this is that this war was truly the beginning of the separation from England.

    The Proclamation Line was a law created to limit the colonists expansion. The law stated that the colonists weren't allowed west of the Appalachian Mountains. Parliament did this because they viewed the rest of the land won as Indian Territory and they wanted to avoid conflict. However, after the Americans fought seven years for that land, they wanted to use it. The Proclamation Line ultimately pushed the colonists to rebellion.

    The Stamp Act was a tax put on all printed goos in the colonies. This was put in place to pay for troops. The colonists protested, boycotted, and even became violent. People suggled goods, refused to pay, and attacked the British until it was repealed. This is so important because it shows the colonists sticking up for themselves, which was another step toward independence.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was when the colonists finally snapped. The Tea Act affected a lot of people since it was the main beverage at the time. The extra tax angered many colonists, and it led to the Americans tossing $1-3 billion worth of tea from the importing ship, to the harbor. It was a risky move that Parliament didn't respond kindly to, but it definitely showed resistance and courage.

    Some background knowledgeThe Intolerable Acts were acts used as punishment for the Boston Tea Party. They include the Boston Port Act, Mass Goverenment Act, Justice Act, 2nd Quartering Act, and the Quebec Act. These acts shut down the harbor, destroyed the Mass congress, and gave permission for the British to be violent. This was proof that change was necessary.
  • Lexington and Concord

    The battle at Lexington and Concord was the first fight of the Revolutionary war. Fewer American men were killed than British, but the bloodshed meant war. In the end, aproximately 100 Americans were killed while nearly 275 British were missing, wouded, or dead. The militia became organized during this battle and it got them ready for their true fight for independence.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence is probably the most significant achievement this country has ever had. The colonists won the war, which meant freedom. The freedom gave us our own nation, which is the whole reason the Europeans came here to begin with. The document stated that all men were equal and all had the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
