    Magna Carta

    Magna Carta
    The Magna Carta was signed between the Feudal Barons and King John at Rnnymed near the Windsor Castle. The Magna Carta was to give them the right to trail by jury, but was later reinterpreted by courts to include others classes. Also to ake sure the King doesn't abuse his power.Was a written promise between the King and his people that he would govermend England and deal with its people according to the customs of Federal Laws.

  • Mayflower Compact

    Mayflower Compact
    The purpose of this document is to combine the people into a civil body and to increases their christian fiath and honor their king and country.Another purpose for the Mayflower Compact would be to prevent the dessent between the Puritans and the non-separatis Pilgrims who had landed in Plyouth. What they all did, was agree to comply with the goverment's law and in return they would all protect one another. This document was signed by 41 English Colonies on the ship of the Mayflower.

    Petition of Rights
    A major Constitutional document that set out specific libertties of the subject that the Kind is prohibited from infringing. The rights granted were that no one should be forced to pay the government without a law being enacted. No one should be held as a prisoner without a reason. Also, people should not be forced to house solders. The House of Lords and House of Commons, also known as the English Parliament signed it. After them, King Charles I signed it.

    English Bill of Rights is an act of the Parliament of England. it was signed by King William and Queen Mary of Orange. It asserted that Englishmen had certain inalienable civil and political rights. For example, Catholics were banned from the thrown and Monarchs could not establish their own courts or act as judges.

    Albany Plan of Union
    The Albany Plan of Union was to Create a united goverment for the 13 colonies,which was suggested by Benjamin Franklin. This plan was never finalized becuase the oolonies didn't trust eachother enough to surrend thir autonamy.
  • French and Indian War

    A fight between the English and French over territory. Especially lands that were watered by the Ohio River. New France, the Indians, and the British were the major players. Some of the Major battles were The Battle of Jumonville Glen, The Battle at Fort Necessity, Battle of Lake George, Battle of Fort Bull, and Battle of Signal Hill. The British ultimately won the war. The war changed economic, political, governmental, and social relations with the British.

    King George III Takes Power
    Royal Proclimation of 1763. It forbid Americans from setting or buying land west of the Appalachians andit gave the crown a monopoly in any land bought or negotiated from Native Americans. Indians were recognized as having some rights to the land.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Imposed a direct tax by the British Parliament specifically on the colonies of British America, and it required that many printed materials in the colonies be produced on stamped paper produced in London, carrying an embossed revenue stamp. It was taxed attorney licenses, land grants under 100 acres, cards, newpapers, magazines, and pamphlets. The delegates were more conservative than many of the more radical elements in the colonial assemblies. Therefore, the British rejected the act.
  • Boston Massacre

    5 Colonists were killed. The Townshed acts were being enforeced. They included the Quartering act which required colonists to proved housing for the British soldiers.

    The political group that organized this even were the massachusetts Patriots they destroyed the caro of several tea ships in Boston. The British were furious.The warships were sent to Boston to block any ship sailing in and out of Boston because of this the traid in Boston was ruined
  • Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts or the Coercive Acts were designed to put the colonies back into compliance with rules and regulations mandated by the British. This act was a response from the Boston Tea Party. Which punished the colony. They wanted toreassert their uthority in the American colonies. The provisons of these act are that they closed all Boston's ports until the colonist could pay for the destrution that they did. Also restricted goverment/commites and town meeting.   • The First Continental Congress

    The major people that were involved in this were John Adams, Samuel Adams,Gerorg Washinton, and Patrick Henry, from 12 colonies met in Philadelphia's Carpenter's Hall.The First Continental Congress was formed because they wanted to find a way to stop unfair taxes.Another reason would be a way to represent the colonist together
  • Lexington and Concord

    Was the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary war. The Americans won this battle. The major Generals were the Minute Men. Paul Revere is known for riding through the streets of Lexington and Concord warning everyone that the British were coming.
  • Second Continental Congress

    This was taken place at the State House in Philadelphia PA. now known as Indepence Hall.The ideas that came about this meeting were to completly break away from Great Britian. They also want to put colonies on a state of defence, wanted to form an army George Washinton was the Commander and Cheiff of the army.
  • Declaration of Independence

    A statement adopted by the Continental congress, which announced that the 13 American colonies regarded themselves as independent states.
  • Articles of Confederation

    The Articles of Confederation was an agreement between the 13 colonies that established the usa as a confederation. The first president under the acticles was John Hanson.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris ended the American Revolutionary War between Great Britain and the United States. John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and John Jay were the United States representatives in the signing. The United States gained all territory east of the mississippi. THeBritishfinally recognized the Jay Treaty.
  • Start of Constitutional Convention

    Formally called the Meeting of Comissioners to Remedy Government. Only 12 delegates from 5 states showed up. They produced a report which was sent to the congress and states askng for more delegates to show. Shays rebellion lasted from August 1786-February 1787. The United States Constitution was drafted during this time. The original purpose of the convention was to create the U.S Constitution.
