  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War was a product of the struggle between the French and English over territory and wealth. Native Americans joined the French against the British in fear that the British would take their land. The British were the victors in this war.Rating:1- The colonists were angered by the British because they would not allow them to move West after the war because the Indians were living there. To enforce this soliders(paid for by the colonists tax money) were sent out to the west.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    In 1764 the British Parliament passed an act that taxed molasses in order to pay off their debt from the war. The Sugar Act also enforced taxes on certain wines, coffee, and pimiento.
    Rating: 2 The Sugar Act caused many outrages and protests from
    those affected directly like merchants. Colonists were also angered because they were being taxed without representation
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act placed taxes on wills, diplomas,marriage papers, newspapers and dice. All items in the tax were required to carry a stamp showing that the tax had been paid for.
    Rating:2- The colonists were very angry. They tarred and feathered the agents who came to collect the tax and claimed it was unfair because thy were being taxed without representaion from Parliament
  • Boston Massacre

    On March 5, 1770, a violent crowd stood outside the Boston customs office to demonstrate against the killing of a German boy by a British officer. The colonists threw snowballs at the soliders and taunted them and the soliders responded by shooting at them and killing 5 colonists.
    Rating:3- The massacre showed the colonists how harsh the British were and they really needed to fight for their independence
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    On December 16, 1773, colonists disguised who were disguised as Mohawk Indians and called themselves the Sons of Liberty boarded 4 British ships. They were angry at the tax on tea, and in rage dumped 342 crates of British tea into the Boston harbor
    Rating:3- This angered the British and showed them that the colonists were serious about not being pushed around anymore. Tea was expensie back then so dumping it over the harbor was offensive to the British
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    The Battle of Lexington and Concord was made up of two battles that began on April 18th, 1775. British troops were sent to Concord to capture John Hancock and Samuel Adams, but they had been warned already. That night, Paul Revere rode through Concord warning everybody about the British attack. When the British came, the militia was ready for them and defeated them.Rating 4- This battle marked the begining of the American Revolution. Having defeated the British, the colonists were now confident
  • Lexington and Concord continued
