  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    This proclamation did not allow colonists to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. the British government feared the conflict between the colonists and the native Americans would lead to another war. They also could not afford to pay British troops to defend the western lands. Colonists were enraged by this proclamation because they felt thhey had won the right to settle in the Ohio River Valley after winning the French and Indian War.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    This Act was to save the British money for hotels and food for their troops by making the colonists house and feed the British troops. During the French and Indian War, the British didn't have the money to house and feed the troops, so they made the colonists do that.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    In 1765, the British Parliment passed the Stamp Act. What this act did was it made every newspaper, pamphlet, and other public or legal document have a British seal on it, proving that it's tax has been payed. The colonists didnt think they had to pay for something they where doing free for years.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    In 1767, the townshend acts originated from Charles Townshend and was passed by the parliament shortly after the Stamp Act was repield. What the Townshend Acts did was it charged the colonists taxes on inported goods like glass lead, paints, paper, and tea.
  • Tea Act/Boston Tea Party

    Tea Act/Boston Tea Party
    In 1773 the parliament passed the Tea Act. this Act charged the colonists on the tea that was impoted to the colonies. the colonists didnt want to pay taxes on the tea, so they protested. The Sons of Liberety dressed as Native Americans and went on the British ship carrying all the tea. they threw all of the tea off board and destroyed it, all the tea that was destroyed was worth about 1 million dollars.

    In 1774 this act was passed by the parliament to pusnish the Massachusets colony for the Boston Tea Party. The Massachusets coloney didnt have the money to pay back the tea they destroyed so these laws were passed to punish them.

    Battles of Lexington and Concord.
    On 1775 the British marched to Concord to destroy the colonists weapon stash. But they didnt know that the colonists had already gone there and taken all of the weapons. The British destroyed all of the reamaing supplies and continued on there mission. Then the marched to Lexington to capture the leaders of the Sons of Liberty, Samuel Adams and John Handcock. They encountered some of the colonial army and no one knew who fired the first shot but itb was the shot that started the war.

  • The Olive Branch Petition

    The Olive Branch Petition
    The Olive Branch Petition was Writen by a samll group of radicals led by John Adams. This Petition was signed the the congress and sent to King George III to resolve and conflicts with Great Britian and fix all of the trade and make the colonies more free from British rule. King George III refused to read the Petition and declared the colonies as an open rebellion against the crown and Great Britian.

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was writen by Thomas Jefferson in seventeen day durring the Second Constitutional congress and was also signed then. What this document was that it declared independence from the British colonies.
