  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    In year 1754-1765 the British, French, and Indians claimed land heading west over the Appalachian Mountains. Indians settled in the Ohio River Valley, and the British wanted to trade with the Indians to own that land. The American colonists then led a war against the french. The final outcome of the French and Indian War, British gained territory of the Ohio River Valley. This was a very important event in leading up to the Revolutionary war, by countries having rivalry and claiming land.

    Proclamation of 1763
    After the French and Indian War ended on October 7th, 1763 the Proclamation was issued by King George III. This document forbade settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains to finally claim the British territory. The colonist were very upset with this proclamation because if they have settled West of the Mountains, they would have to move back East.

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was issued on April 5th, 1764 to lower taxes on sugar and molasses which at the time was going to be a huge trade. This Act was to stop the smuggling from the rivaled foreign countries. This had a minor impact on the economic department for the American Colonists.

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act occurred in the year 1765, it was an act the British Parliament forced upon the colonies and enforced that many printed good were to be taxed on. Through this act the colonies replied in riots, and the parliament repealed the law.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    On March 24, 1765 the Quartering Act was issued. Declaring that British soldiers must find land and settle in the American Colonies. British soldiers were provided for by the colonists for all needs, and food and no cost. The result in The Quartering Act, was that it was later proven as a violation of the Bill of Rights, and many and many colonists did not want to associate in the payments for British Soldiers.

    Townshend Act
    Townhsend Act took place in 1767, and imposed taxes onto many goods; glass, lead, paints, paper, and teas. Being that these goods were being imported into the colonies, many colonists had the view on the British Parliament that they were abusing the power of taxation. As a result to the dissatisfied colonists this act was repealed by the British in 1770.

    Boston Masscre
    The Boston Massacre occurred on March 5th, 1770, a street fight with the British Soldiers and colonists. The sides through sticks, threw snowballs, more and more colonists joined the fight throughout the day which led to many people on the streets of Boston. The British head officer directed fire into the crowd. Three colonists dies immediately and two did later from wounds. The results of this Massacre, was the switched views on British soldiers.

    In 1773, The British Parliament sets the Tea Act to overcome bankruptcy. The British do this by lowering taxes on tea, which led to the effects of upset colonists who duped 342 bags of British Tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were issued in year of 1774, as a result to the Boston Tea Party. The British Parliament closed the Boston harbor to stop imports and exports, this was called the Boston Port Bill. Another major act that occurred was the Massachusetts Government Act, this is when the British made a law to restrict all town meetings. From the Intolerable Acts the British gained very much control of the colonies.
