  • The End of the French and Indian War

    The End of the French and Indian War
    At the end of the French and Indian War, Britain needed to pay for the war. As a result, Britain taxed the 13 Colonies for a way to get money. Britain also felt that the 13 colonies needed to pay for the war that they started.
  • The Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763
    After the French and Indian war the king and parliament passed the proclamation of 1763. It stated that colonists couldn’t move west of the Appalachian Mountains, because he did not want to keep sending soldiers to protect the colonists from Indian attacks. The colonists were very upset because their king wouldn’t protect them. In response, the colonists moved west anyway and had to deal will the attacks alone.

    March 23 1765, This is unfair! Parliament has just passed the stamp act. Now I can’t get my papers and documents without getting taxed. I can’t buy dice or cards without Britain taxing me! This will stop! I shall boycott the papers until Britain stops this madness!

    The Quartering Act
    The quartering act stated that the colonists had to house and feed the British soldiers. The colonists were outraged at this and as a result they committed violence toward British soldiers and refused to follow the act.
  • The Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act
    The Townshend Acts taxed imported goods such as glass, paper, and tea. This Act also allowed British Officers to use Writs of Assistance. Writs of Assistance allowed officers to search colonial ships for smuggled goods. The colonists were very upset at this. They thought that the Writs of Assistance violated their rights. The colonists continued to boycott goods and the merchants signed the non-importation agreement. The non-importation agreement stated that the colonists would not import

    The Boston Massacre
    March 6th 1770, Yesterday was madness! Yesterday, a British solider and his renegade shot at 5 of our colonial men. The captain’s name was Captain Preston he ordered his men to fire at us. Before the firing we were throwing rocks and we were trying to get rid of the Redcoats so, in return they lined up and fired at our innocent colonial men, women, and children. Britain is really getting out of control. -William Pitt

    The tea act stated that the colonies would only be allowed to import tea from the East India Company. The colonists were still angry though because they believed that there was, “no taxation without representation.”
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The sons of liberty dressed as Mohawk Indians climbed aboard 3 ships and dumped 342 full crates into the harbor. This showed the other colonists that they could stand up and fight back.

    This act was a punishment to the colonists for the boston tea party. They banned town meetings, closed the harbor, and they imposed a new quartering act.
