Road to Revolution

  • The French and Indian war

    This war lasted for 7 years and Britain was the country that made the declaration of war. It really wasn't in between the French and the Indians, it was between the French and the English. The French were moving in on the Ohio river and there were many conflicts between both of them and that is what caused Britain to make their declaration of war.
  • The Proclamation of 1763

    This proclamation was a good thing for the Native Americans in this time. After the French and Indian war, Britain decided to make this proclamation to make a border from their land and other countries land, and the land of the Native Americans. Nobody could trespass over these lines because that land belonged to whoever owned it.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act was made so that Non-British Caribbean ships could transport fine sugar to the Colonies.
  • Stamp Act of 1766

    The Stamp act of 1766 was made after The French and Indian war. During this time the British Colonies were in debt so they made this act so that they could receive money to pay for the debt. Basically this is when they made taxes.
  • Townshend Acts of 1767

    The Townshend Acts of 1767 was when the British government put taxes on American goods. The Colonists didn't thought that the British government was just abusing their power. Britain sent troops so that they could make sure that the American Colonies followed these new laws.
  • The Boston Massacre

    This event was basically a leading into the American Revolution. There were riots, like today, and it started with a brawl with 2 American Colonists and one British soldier. Soon this started into a riot and then more British soldiers came. But they came with guns, and they started to shoot the rioters and it became a bloody brawl.
  • Tea Act

    In the Tea act, there were many American colonists that boarded a Indian Tea Company ships. The British economy relied a lot on the Indian Tea Company because they really liked drinking tea. And the American colonists didn't like Britain so they dumped all of the tea on the ship overboard into the sea.
  • Boston Tea Party

    It was basically a really bad riot that started in Massachusetts, American colonists dumped all of the tea ported in form the East Britain India Company into the sea and they were trying to fight for independence.
  • Intolerable Acts

    It was basically Britain's way of saying, back off. They weren't giving America as many resources as they used too ever since the riots and stuff like that and then people were dying because of starvation and thirst.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    The 1st Continental Congress was the congress of the 13 colonies and then the United States.
