End of the French and Indian War
The long [war](http://www.publicbookshelf.com/public_html/The_Great_Republic_By_the_Master_Historians_Vol_II/frenchand_ba.html) between the French and the British ended at this time. With this the Parliament felt that the colonies should pay for the expenses of the war. They taxed the colonists and this angered them. This was the beginning of the event leading up to the American Revolutionary War.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    Dear Diary,

There has been a recent announcement from King George ||| saying that we the colonists are not allowed to move west of the Appalachian Mountains. The King proclaimed he did not want to protect us from the Indian attacks. The colonists are angry that the king will not bother to protect us. Most of us colonists plan on moving anyway. This may start something bad.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Dear Elizabeth,

The King has passed a tax. This time it is on sugar and molasses. Many people buy a lot of these things, so we are all very upset. Some people even started saying “No taxation without representation” and I completely agree with them. Two ways we are thinking of protesting are boycotting these taxed items and some are even going to smuggle items onto ships. If they keep making taxes it could end up causing a war because everyone is very angry.
    Love,
    Abigail
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
British soldiers living in our quarters
Why can't they stay with you and your supporters
    This is violating our rights
We refuse to house British soldiers tonight
    Us colonists are upset
For creating this act you will regret
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Dear Diary,
Yet another act was passed by parliament. We now have to pay tax on stamps, legal documents, cards, dice, and more. We have no say in the acts they are passing in England, we have no representatives which is unfair. Colonists have been boycotting these items. I have been working with other upset citizens to create a petition to send to parliament. Sadly there has even been some violence, I hope this doesn’t turn into a war.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    Taxes on tea
    Other imported goods too
    Writs of Assistance
    No taxation without representation
Some boycotted and smuggled taxed goods
Hatred of the parliament picks up
    Everyone upset
    Non-importation agreement
    Doesn’t this violate our right?
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Dear Elizabeth,
Yesterday was a very sad day in Boston and the other thirteen colonies. Five people were shot and killed by British soldiers. Some people say it was the colonists’ fault, however I feel that they were innocent. Many people are angry and are mourning over the loss of the five lives. If arguments and violence keep occurring there could be a horrible outcome, such as a war.
    Sincerely,
    Abigail Abigail
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    Taxes much cheaper
    England’s parliament trying to compromise
Allowed tea to be imported from India Angered colonists because they are still being taxed
Colonist saw this as a trick
Taxation still without representation may lead to war
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The disguised Sons of Liberty
Snuck on to a ship with crates of tea
They dumped the tea into the sea
    This made parliment very angry
    Now both sides are upset
This may cause a very bad war yet
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The British King
    Kept our town from meeting

All goods at the harbor were stowed
Till we paid what we owed
The soldiers are in our house again
I feel like I am in a pen
    With the colonists helping
There may be war against that king
  • The First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress
    Dear Diary,
I was chosen to be a representative for the New Jersey colony and attend a meeting of the First Continental Congress. Eleven other representatives and me met in Philadelphia to discuss the Intolerable Acts. We came to the conclusions that we should demand parliment to repeal the Intolerable Acts and that the colonies should all start training militias. Also, we should keep boycotting taxed goods. All of the colonists are
upset and with all this arguing there just might be a war.
  • Paul Revere's Ride

    Paul Revere's Ride
The Sons of Liberty learned the plan
Soon in Boston there would be a British Clan
    They sent out two
    To warn the crew
Then Paul Revere took a horse
And warned the others along the course
Dawes and Revere were soon caught
Just after Adams and Hancock learned the plot
Prescott goes to Lexington and Concord to warn
The people about the war that may soon be born
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
At the battle of [Lexington and Concord ](http://www.theamericanrevolution.org/battledetail.aspx?battle=1)the first shots of the Revolutionary War were fired. No one really knows if it was the British soldiers or the colonists who fired first because all of the information that they have is mostly propaganda. The British became very angry with the colonists and the colonists were angry too, so the soldiers came to the colonies. When they met at Lexington and Concord the battle began. This was the
begining of a very bad war.
