    It was meant to raise money to support the new military force. Also people in England paid a higher tax. This also required stamps to be on bills of sale for about 50 trade items. The Stamp Act Congress started the rights and grievances of colonists.

    Imposed a light import duty on glass, white, lead, and more. Colonists refused any taxes without representation.
