  • End of the War

    The French and Indian war ends with the Treaty of Paris. Britain gets more economic opportunities with the increase of land for their plantations. George the III is crowned and optimism is everywhere for the British.

    Pontiac's Rebellion

    The Native Americans were mad that the French lost because the British treated them badly. So Pontiac started a rebellion to keep their land. This made British, try to make an treaty with them.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    The British decided to make an agreement with Pontiac to stop his rebellions and to save money by not starting another war. The colonists were not present when this was decided and were aggravated. In response the colonists ignored the proclamation line.
  • Sugar Act

    The British were still in great dept after the French and Indian war. So they started to tax the colonists on molasses/sugar, wine and coffee. Along with taxing sugar, the British also gave the power of a blank search warrants to people connected to the crown. This lead to more corruption and the relationship between the colonists and the motherland was worse.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act was the first direct act. The act required all printed paper and legal documents to be stamped. This was another way the British tried to pay off its dept.This annoyed the powerful people in the colonies leading them to organize rebellions.
  • Quartering Act

    Another way Britain tried to make money out of the colonists was through the quartering act. This way, the colonists would pay for the British troops. In the quartering act, it said that the colonists should give the redcoats public shelter food water and alcohol. This aggravated the colonists more because they didn't want drunk "Ewells" with guns near their towns.
  • Virgina Resolves

    The Virginia House of Burgesses, was not happy with the British so it decided that they wouldn't recognize the stamp act. This lead to eight other colonies accepting their opinion.

    Stamp Act Congress

    Nine colonies banded together to petition against taxation without representation. This led to the repeal of the Stamp act.
  • Declaratory Act

    While the colonists were celebrating the repeal of the Stamp act, the British put an act to have control on the thirteen colonies.
  • Repeal of Stamp Act

    The was so much resistance from the colonists that the British repealed the stamp act. Also none of the British collected the stamp act because if they tried, they would tar and feather them.

    Townshend Act

    The British started to tax lead, glass, paper, paint and tea. This lead to the colonists boycotting everything that came from England. Also the daughters of liberty start wearing homespun that they made.
  • Boston Massacre

    There were only five people who died. The soldiers didn't stand as a firing squad. The colonists throw snow and rocks and ice. This lead to the fight.
