The French and Indian War
The French and Indian War started in 1753 and ended in 1763 because Paris and British signed a treaty. During the war the British and French fought each other for land having Native Americans on each side. When the war had ended with a treaty from Paris, leaving the British with a lot of land in the Americans and the French losing it to the British. -
The Proclamation of 1763
The Proclamation was issued by King George III at the end of The French and Indian War. it was from the British to the Native Americans, the Proclamation said that the Native Americans had their rights on the European Lands, but only to appease Native Americans. -
The Sugar Act
The Sugar Act was the first tax that the British but in place for the Colonies. The Sugar Act is also know as the Revenue Act. The British would get money from the taxes the Colonies payed. They taxed many goods like sugar, cloth, and coffee, Colonists did not have a word in making tax laws and many said that this was unfair. -
Stamp Act of 1766
The Stamp Act was when Britain taxed anything printed on paper, for example documents, magazines, ships' papers, and etc. And the Colonists did not have a say in making tax laws. -
Townshend Acts of 1767
The British government attempted to have political power over the American Colonies by putting in place import taxes on many of the British products bought by Americans, examples are paper, tea, and etc. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre first started as a small argument between a few colonists and British Private Hugh White. As more colonists gathered around, the more the argument began to escalate, then the colonists began to harass and throw things at Private White. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act was passed by the British Parliament, the bill was passes to try to save the faltering East India Company from bankruptcy. They would save the company by greatly lowing the tea tax. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was a political protest, at Griffin's Wharf in Boston, Massachusetts. The American colonists were angry and frustrated at the British because they had imposed "taxation without representation" and dumped 342 chests of tea. The tea had been imported by the British East India Company and then dumped it into the harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts was a set of four laws passed by the British Parliament to punish the colony, because of their acts of the Boston Tea Party. The four acts/laws were one: the Boston Port Bill, two: Massachusetts Government Act, three: Administration of Justice Act, and four: Intolerable Act. -
1st Continental Congress
It was comprised of delegates from the colonies, the main goal for the colonies was the resistance towards the British because of new taxes.
