  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This act tried to reduce the tax on sugar and molasses to stop the smuggling of these items to avoid the previous tax. This was important because it made the British start giving in to the colonists freedom
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Act passed by British Parliament that taxed papers, documents , playing cards. This made the colonies furious mainly newspaper companies because they required large amounts of paper costing them a lot of money. This helped further drive the colonists away from the British crown
  • The Formation of The Sons of Liberty

    The Formation of The Sons of Liberty
    The Sons of Liberty were created to help give rights to the colonists and fight taxation. They played a major role in appealing the Stamp Act.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    Created new taxes for paper, paint, lead, glass, and tea. This infuriated colonists even more as all these new laws and taxes were put into place and they had no representatives in Parliament to appeal these acts.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Private Hugh White was stationed outside the custom house on kings street when angry colonists started to threaten and insult him. At some time more soldiers came to his aid. Tensions rose as colonists began to attack soldiers and eventually the soldiers opened fire killing 5 colonists. This enraged the colonists and Anti British propaganda began to spread like wildfire furthermore driving into freedom
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a protest by American colonists about "taxation without representation". Protesters went to Griffin's Wharf where British ship held chests of tea and got onto the ships and proceeded to dump the tea out into harbor. This became one of the firsts acts of defiance against the king.
  • Battles of Concord and Lexington

    Battles of Concord and Lexington
    They were the first 2 battles of the Revolutionary war. The British wanted to steal a weapons cache in Concord. Colonial scouts such as Paul Revere warned the colonies about the oncoming redcoats. In Lexington the fighting started but colonists were able to quickly drive out the British resulting in the first Victory for the Americans. In Concord minute men intercepted the British and were able to drive them back as well. This kicked of the fight for freedom for America
