    Proclamation of 1763
    To limit settlement of this territory, Britian issued the Proclamation of 1763. The proclamation prohibited colonists from moving west of the Applachian Mountains. Stopping the settlment of the wast provided a few advantages for Britian. One example is, it allowed british goverment to control westward movement so that they could avoid contact with the Native Americans. The Colonists started getting alarmed for they feared that there would be to many British troops in North America.

  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar act lowered the tax on molases imported by the colonists. The sugar act and the new laws to control smuggling angered the colonists. It angered them because as Englishmen they thought they were being voilated. James Otis said, "No parts of England Colonies can be taxed without their consent...every part has a right to be represented." What he was saying is that none of the colonists has a say in anything that was going on so he thought that they should.

    The Currency act banned paper money as legal tender in the colonies. One atricle said, "The act represented an effort to wrest control of monetary policy from colonial assemblies." So they basically tried to make things better for the colonists but it was hard because hard money was in shortage so they had to use there own paper money they had to make.

    Stamp Act
    The new tax required the colonists to pay tax on all printed pieces of paper. The money collected by the stamp act was to be used to pay for all the soldiers sent to the Appalachiane mountains to fight. Although the tax rate was very low what angered the colonists was that they had never had a tax to try and raise money for the colonists it was always because they had to regulate commerace. There wasnt much they did but buy the stamps and paper and complain about it.

    The Quartering Act was passed to adress the pratcical concerns of such a troop deyploment. This act gave the soldiers basic needs such as, bedding, cooking utensils, firewood, beer or cider, and candles. Most of the colonists thought this was a practical thing to do for there needed to be soldiers to protect America and they needed to have the basic resources
  • Stamp Act Congress

    Stamp Act Congress
    The Stamp Act Congress was a meeting held in New York City by the colonists. It was after the stamp act was recently passed and they were enraged by all that was going on. They basically got together and yelled and fought over the way they were being treated by the British. Britian did not know about this meeting because they would not approve of them getting together and trying to rebel against Britian so they did it in secret.
  • Townsend Act

    Townsend Act
    This act was created in order to raise more money for Britian. The creator, Charles Townshed, said, "Roits in England convinced me that tax relief was needed at home, but I hoped to reduce the amount of debt by taxing the colonists." People in England thought this was responsible so that was how the Stamp Act was developed. To get even more money he created the Townsend act and it taxed almost everything including paint and other goods.

    Declaratory Act
    The stamp act was the begining of all the rebellon. After the Stamp act was put out the colonists got together in New York and tried to think of things they could do to let the British know they were not happy. What they decided to do was boycott the British goods. When britian found out about all of this they passed a act called the Declaratoy act which basically reinforced Britians power and secured the King better.
