    These laws were set so that the colonies were basically being forced to trade with England. This was a disadvantage for the colonies because they were still being controlled by England.
  • First Contiental Congress

    First Contiental Congress
    The deliberation lasted for seven weeks. A meeting in Philadelphia to consider ways of redressing colonial grievances. Twelves of the thirteen colonies sent fifty five distinguished men to the meetings.

    Seven Years War

    The Seven Years War was fought between British came with Pruissa and France came with Austria. It was known as the French and Indian War. In 1754, they bagna having issues over control on the Ohio River Valley. British had a victory over the French.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act was passed for British soldiers to have somewhere to stay/sleep. It stated that if the barracks became filled and more soldiers need a room, they would have places in the colonies to stay. (Inns. ale houses, livery stables, public houses,etc.). Whoever they stayed with was responsible for supplying them with food, supplies,or anything else the soldier might need. Pennsylvania was the only that did not refuse to help the soldiers,so the act ended on March 24,1767.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act had placed a tax on fifty plus items such as most of all printed materials, legal documents, dice and playing cards. The tax for these items went directly to England.Protest amoung the colonist came about and they believe the act was an unlawful thing. Colonist met in New York City and portested the act and the Stamp Act was evenutally repealed on March 18, 1766.

    British Parliament decided that America was going to be under the same taxing authority as Great Britain had. They told the colonists this would've eliminated the Stamp Act. The British Parliament was taking advantage of the colonists. This act meant the British could make and pass laws for the colonists.

    Parliament repealed townshend duties except tax on tea.

    British occupation of Boston
    The British invaded Boston to try to inforce their own laws. This forced many fights between the British and colonists. The colonists refused the Townshend Tea Tax, which is why the British invaded Boston. The British wnated to have their own authority over the colonies.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    British soldiers and Boston colonists fought because King George III treated the colonists unfairly. The colonists had no rights and the king thought he controlled them. The fight started by a school boy bothering a guard, who then called for back up. Then soldiers began shooting and a riot broke out. Overrall, five colonists were killed.

    British Parliament passed a series of Repressive Acts which were designed to chastise Boston. King George III set up laws to punish the colonists for dumping tea into the harbor. He was trying to bring order to the colonies.
  • The Boston Port Act

    The Boston Port Act
    This act was passed after the Boston Tea Party occured. The British Parliament wanted the colonists to pay for all the tea they dumped into the harbor and the harbor would be closed until the payed all of it.
  • Lexington and Concord

    The battle of Lexington and Concord lead to American Revolution.British sent hundreds of troops out to march from Boston to Concord. Their main focus was the capture John Hancock and Samuel Admas. There were minute men waiting for the British to arrive ready to sparke a fight with them. Finally in 1783 British won their independence.
  • Thomas Paine "Common Sense"

    Thomas Paine "Common Sense"
    Paine wanted colonists to fight Great Britain in the summer to become independent. He wanted all 13 colonists to become involved. This work expressed the opinions of all colonists and caused it to be read all over the colonies.
  • Adam Smith "the Wealth of Nations"

    Adam Smith "the Wealth of Nations"
    Focused on economics and labor of work. It became so popular that it sold out in 6 months. The government and other orginizations were influenced by his writing. It was originally published in Scotland and has had many editions published since. Adam Smith died in 1790.
