  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    This was a war between the French and England due to land control, former European wars, and because they were traditional enemies. The British won the war. After the war, Britian blamed the colonist for the war, raised their taxes to pay for the war, and began enforcing the colonies laws. Britian also didn't allow the colonists to use the new land they just helped win,
  • Treaty Of Paris

    Treaty Of Paris
    Signed by the kingdoms of Great Britian, France, and Spain, the Treaty of Paris ended the 7 Year War, (French and Indian War). It gave the British all the land east of the Mississippi river, and Spain all the western land. It left France with very little land, but only in Canada.
  • Proclamtion Line

    Proclamtion Line
    The Proclamation Line was set in place after the Treaty of Paris. It was a boundry line made at the Alps to end westward expansion, and it forbid colonists to settle in the Ohio River Valley. This upset the colonists because they fought for this land and now they weren't allowed to use it.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was a new law that all paper goods were to be taxed. It was a direct tax so they had to pay it seperate from the actual cost of their item. This lead to the creation of Sons of Liberty, Daughters of Liberty, and many boycotts. The colonists boycotted by not buying any paper goods. And had some of the merchants to agree to the Non-Importation Agreement, meaning they wouldn't sell the goods that were taxed. They eventually got the act repealed.

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was an event where British soldiers opened fire and killed 5 colonists. It was used as propaganda for both sides, patriots and loyalists. The patriots used it as a way to get people wound up and ready to fght for independence.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was an event in which Patriots dressed as Mohawk Indians and dumped one million dollars worth of tea into the Boston Harbor. No one was blamed for the event. The King saw this as a threat and was angry about it. He then made the Intolerable Acts as a punishment to New England.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were a set of laws put in place after the Boston Tea Party. As punishment, the King put these acts in place for New England. There was The Boston Port Act, which shut down the port for imports and exports; the Mass. Government Act, to suspend the Massachusettes government; the Justice Act, meaning all trials were now going to be tried in England; the 2nd quartering act, and the Quebec Act. These were meant to isolate boston, and prevent unification. among the colonies.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    Lexington and concord was the first military engagments between the colonist and Britain. Britiam tired to secretly take over Lexington and Concord in the states but because of poor planning, they failed. They landed in the marshes but there were spy networks among the colonists that warned eachother. After this event, the secrect to invade the colonies was out and British soldiers retreatin were killed off by the colonist and their mission had failed.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    Olive Branch Petition
    The Olive Branch Petition was a letter to the King asking for a cease fire in Boston, a repeal of the Intolerable Acts and to define the colonists rights. It was created by the moderates in the colonies. The King saw it as a joke and didn't listen to the colonists. Instead he declared the colonists to be in a state of rebellion, The colonies began to unify.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration was the last step before the Revolustionary War. Sent over as a statement of breaking away from england, th colonists sent over the Declaration of Independence to seperate themselves from england. Because the King laughed at the Olive Branch Petition, the colonist decided to unify and break away from England. They told the king what was wrong, and why they were breaking away. This began the war.
