  • The French and Indian War

    This war started because of claiming of the land of the upper Ohio valley near the river. This war was between the British Empire, which would have the land open for trade and settlements, or the French Empire. France was trying to claim the entirety of the Mississippi valley as well as the Ohio.
  • The Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763 was made to appease the local Native Americans to stop encroachment of any European settlers. This was made right after the French and Indian war, this proclamation was made by King George III.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act was made to tax colonial merchants 6 pence per gallon of exported molasses
  • Stamp Act of 1766

    This act forced British colonists to buy a British stamp for every official document they owned. This was made by the British Parliament.
  • Townshend Acts of 1767

    Was a group of parliaments passed so that citizens had to pay taxes for china, tea, glass, lead, paint etc..
  • The Boston Massacre

    It started out just as a street brawl between some American colonists and British Soldiers, but after that it escalated to a bloody murder.
  • Tea Act

    It was to reduce the massive amount of tea held in these big facilities to help struggling companies survive.
  • Boston Tea Party

    American colonists were frustrated with Britain for imposing taxation without representation. So they dumped 342 chests of tea.
  • Intolerable Acts

    It was supposed to be a punishment to the Massachusetts colonists for the dumping of tea.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    It was to boycott the British government in response to their new tax laws.
