    Catholics lived in Maryland. They came to Maryland because they were being persecuted for their religious beliefs. It was named after a Catholic queen. Maryland was founded by Lord Baltimore.

    If someone disagreed with the Puritans beliefs they were banished. Two famous people to get banished from Massachusetts were Anne Hutchinson and Roger Williams. Anne Hutchinson got banished because, she questioned the church leader.

    Roger Williams got banished from Massachusetts because he believed in the separation of the church and state. He went on to find Rhode Island.
