    The French and Indian War was a war that lasted seven years and the British won the war. Britain got very poor and lost a lost of money and soldiers during the battle. So they wanted to tax other people so they could get all of their money back and be rich.
  • King George III took the throne.

    King George III took the throne.
    King George III was the King of Great Britain. If he wasn't king, we still may have had the Revolutionary War, but some things may have been different. King George III was very stubborn and if he wanted something, he would get it. So pretty much the Revolutionary War started with King George III taking the throne and running Great Britain.

    The Stamp Act of 1765 stated that all American colonists had to pay a tax on exery piece of printed paper that you used. The Stamp Act made a lot of colonists very angry.
  • Stamp Act of Congress

    Stamp Act of Congress
    The Stamp Act of Congress was a meeting held by the representatives by the colonies. This meeting helped with knowing everyone's opinion on Great Britain taxing them. They suggested boycott, or to keep from buying things from a certain person or place. When Parliament heard about how angry the colonists were, they ended the Stamp Act.

    The Declaratory Act of 1766 stated that Parliament could tax and make decisions for the American colonies. Of course the colonists did not like this because Britiain pretty much owned them.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    This is a series of 1767 laws named for Charles Townshend. The laws placed new taxes on paints, paper, lead, glass, and tea. Britain eventually cancelled all of the taxes, expect the taxes for the tea. This eventually led to violence between the colonists and the British.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre occured on March 5th, 1770. The British soldiers began throwing rocks and snowballs at the soldiers. As the crowd moved forward, the British panicked and opened fire. Five people were killed and seven were wounded. The Americans were very defensless.

    The Boston Tea Party showed that the colonists weren't going to let Parliament control them anymore.
  • King George responded to the Petition to the King

    King George responded to the Petition to the King
    King George III responded to the last document fiercely and started two battles between the colonial soldiers and the British in Massachusetts at Lexington and Concord, this was the start of the Revolutionary War.

    Second Continental Congress
    The Second Continental Congress was a group of delegates that met up together to discuss independence. If this didn't happen, the Declaration of Independence wouldn't of happened, and a lot of things would be different. This meeting was a good thing to do becuase you get to share your ideas of what you would life, and compromise from there.

    Common Sense (Thomas Paine)
    Common Sense was written by Thomas Paine in 1776. This was wrote to help persuade more people into being independent. Some people at the time didn't like the idea of independence, so he wanted to write this pamphlet to change people's minds, and it worked.
  • Declaration of Independence

    If the colonists never wrote the Declaration of Independence, the British wouldnt know that they wanted independence very very badly. The Declaration of Independence stated everything that they wanted. And Britain got very upset and a lot of violence happened after.
