  • The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War
    THe French and Indian War if also known as the Seven Years' War. It was a dispute over two rivers called Allegheny and Monongahela. In the Battle of Jumonville Glen Virginia militaimen under the commond of George Washington ambushed the French patrol. The British government fell when William Pitt came into power. The outcome was one of the most significant things in a century of Anglo-French conflict.

    The Sugar Act
    The British had got an idea to impose new taxes on the colonies. This act put an import tax on things like molasses. It had also created a harsh punishment for smugglers. Colonial merchants who traded with smugglers had protested. Colonists had got mad and fought back by protesting and had the act removed.

    Quartering Act
    The main purpose of the Quartering Act was to save money. This act made colonist house British troops. They had to provide them with food and water. The colonists complained that parliament was violating their rights. They didn’t feel it was right to be able to do that.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was a big part of history because of how if affected everyone. The stamp Act required that all colonists buy special tax stamps for a lot of products and activities. The stamps had to be placed on anything paper like newspapers, land titles, and contracts. Protests against the Stamp Act were widespread. The House of Burgesses had the only right to tax its citizens. Boycotts started and wound up winning and the Stamp Act was removed.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    The Townshend Acts set up a system to enforce the new import duties. To help officers find illegal goods, they were allowed to use writes of assistance. People had to pay taxes on things like glass, tea, paper, and lead. Many colonists saw these writes and the searches they allowed as yet another violation of their writes. People got mad and wound up bringing back the boycotts. People were encouraged to wear homemade fabrics and production of goods locally.

    The Boston Massace
    The Boston Massacre was a fight that happened because of a “patriot” mob throwing anything they could pick up to throw at British soldiers. A few colonists were killed once the British open fired on the colonists. People wanted all the British out of the city. 50 citizens attacked a British guard and that’s how it all started. The soldier had other British troops brought in to help when someone shot. It followed with other shots killing 3 people.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act imposed no new taxes. It was used to bring up the East India Company. Tea was allowed to be shipped in East India Company ships directly from India to the American colonies, that was they avoided a tax if the commodity were first sent to England as required by previous legislation. The tea was to be marketed in America by special consignees selected by the East India Company. Four centers, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Charleston were the four that were picked.     Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was because people were sick of the tea act. The Boston Tea Party was planned by the Sons of Liberty. One night they dressed up like natives (so no one would know who they were) and went on the British ships and began to dump the tea. They dumped 90,000 pounds of tea worth thousands of dollars. In a manner of three hours they threw off 342 cases of the tea.

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord
    The Battle of Lexington and Concord were the first military fights of The American Revolutionary War. About 700 British Army were given orders to capture and destroy miltary supplies. Weeks before they had recieved information that the supplies may have been moved to a different place. The first shots had been fired early one morning in Lexington. The regulars had fell back and ran from the fight.
  • The Declaration of Independance

    The Declaration of Independance
    The Declaration of Independance was created for America to become independant. The 13 existing colonies were to made independant because of this document. Congress had voted on this document of July 2nd but was not established until July 4th. This document was justified because of the United States's list of grievences against King George III.
