    French and Indian War
    The Seven Years’ War was the French and Indian War. The French and Indian War occurred between 1754- 1763. It was a global military war. It affected Europe, North America, Central America, the West African coast, India, and the Philippines. It was important because it resulted in the Treaty of Saint Petersburg, the Treaty of Paris, the Treaty of Hubertusburg, and the Treaty of Hamburg.

    Proclomation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 led up to the revolution of the Colonists. The proclamation was established October 7, 1763. This proclamation banned colonists from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains. This angered the colonists a great deal. It limited them from expanding their lands and creating more farms. The colonists paid no attention to the proclamation and continued to expand their land.

    The Treaty of Paris was signed on the date of September 3, 1783. It was signed by the kingdoms of Great Britain, France and Spain, with Portugal in agreement. It ended the French and Indian War/Seven Years' War. It was important because it ended the French and Indian War.

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre happened on March 5, 1770. On that night British Army soldiers killed five civilian men. It started with a person taunting and threating a British soldier and eventually ended with a mob of people and 5 people killed by British soldiers. This battle was called the Boston Riot by the British. Many people say that this was the turning point of the colonists, and in many ways it is.

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was passed in 1764 by the British. This was one of the first taxes put on the colonists. It was established to help the British pay of their debts from the French and Indian War. The Rum brewers were affected especially because they were main purchasers of sugar. This made the price of rum go up witch made the colonists angry. Many colonial merchants who sometimes smuggled goods into the country protested.

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act lead to the revolution of the American people because it angered them and it made them think that Britain was taking away their rights. This event happened on March 22nd on 1765in Virginia. This Act put a tax on all paper goods, from diplomas to playing cards. This Act formed the Sons of Liberty who organized boycotts against the British. The British put this tax on the colonists to help them gain money to pay off their debts from the French and Indian war.

    Quartering Acts
    The Quartering Act was a large part of the revolution of the American people because it forced them to house, cloth, and feed the British soldiers. This Act was passed on March 24th, 1765. It was put in place to save the British money after the war. The Colonists complained that Parliament was violating their rights. The colonists refused to house the 10,000 solders that were left in the colonies to ‘protect’ them from their Indian friends.

    Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Act was passed on July 2nd 1767 by the British. The British tried to put a tax on the colonists that wouldn’t make them angry. This tax taxed all imported goods. It was the exact opposite than what the British wanted. Although it didn’t tax any of the activity inside the colonies, the colonists became outraged. As a result colonists began to boycott all British goods.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act was passed on May 10th 1773 by the British. This Act, as you may guess, puts on the common drinking substance in all of the colonies, tea. Tea was drunk with almost every meal and was offered as a welcome when visitors visited. The colonists were outraged at this Act. This Act enraged the colonists more than the Sugar Act because everyone drank tea unlike rum. This Act lead to the Boston Tea Party and the colonists boycotting tea.

    The Boston Tea party happened at 1763. In May of 1773 Parliament concocted a clever plan. They gave the struggling East India Company a monopoly on the importation of tea to America. Additionally, Parliament reduced the duty the colonies would have to pay for the imported tea. The Americans would now get their tea at a cheaper price than ever before. However, if the colonies paid the duty tax on the imported tea they would be acknowledging Parliament's right to tax them. Tea was a staple of colo

    The Declaration of Independence was a statement adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. It announced that the thirteen American colonies at war with Great Britain regarded themselves as independent states, and no longer a part of the British Empire. A committee was assembled to draft the formal declaration, which was to be ready when congress voted on independence.
