    The Compromise of 1850 was really a goal for the North wanted to end slavery inmany of the new states coming in. They didn't want California to be a slave state, so in this compromise they made it so California was not a slave state. They also wanted to the end the slave trade in Washington D.C. They wanted it so the nations capital was a free state so there was a middle. They also said the slavery in new territories would be based on population. This really was a point where session increased.

    This event really just showed how much plantation owners wanted to keep slavery around.It was also economically inefficient. This is verysignificant and it really help with session because once again the south and north were fighting.

    The Kansas Nebraska act created the territories of Kansas and Nebraska. It aslo had the effect of canceling the missori compromise and also allowing the people by there population to either allow or not allow slavery. This showed how the north and the south could get along if they really tried. It also caused some session because it would possably allow slavery in new territories.

    The dred scott case was about a man named Dred Scott who wanted to fight for his freedom. That was because his owner had passed away and was left to the slave owners nephew. His nephew lived in a state where slavery was forbidin so Dred scott went to court to try to get free. But the judge had something else and mind and told Scott that because he was a slave he couldn't and wouldn't havwe rights. Tjhis showed how some people in the north wanted slavery.

Itb was also about wheather Kansas would be a free state or not.In one case a man didn't like what the other man was saying so he took out his cane and beat him over the head with it until the other man was almost dead. This is why they call it bleeding kansas.This should how session was very high at this time.

    John Brown and Harper's Ferry
    John Brown was a white man who believed slavery was wrong and it should be stopped. So he went to many plantations and kill many people even there children. He was very wanted but he took him and his 18 sons to Harper's Ferry an armory and said he would not leave and would seize all the guns.The problem was it was a one way there and back so they did catch him and was later hung for all the killings. This showed how some northerns felt about slavery.

    The election of Abraham Lincoln was a tough one. He had said in his speech that he wouldn't make slavery illegal. Well as we all know he did and that outraged americans and onen of them so much that they killed him. This showed how much slavery meant to people then.
