Hitler's First "Saturday Suprise"
This "Saturday Suprise" was going to set the ground for Hitler's violence (violence in terms of war). Hitler made an announcement to the Reichstag, and all of Germany that he was going to bring back German Air Force, set up the draft, and re-arm Germnay. All of this is in violation of the Treaty of Versallies, but Hitler does not care. -
Hitler's Second "Saturday Suprise"
This "Saturday Suprise" is a raid to move German borders into the Rhineland. The Rhineland is a section of land that was used as a saftey zone to keep GErmany, France, and Belgium apart. It was agreed upon in the Treaty of Veersallies that no one would go in and counquor this land, again Hitler ignored the Treaty. He had soldiers go into the Rhineland, and bomb it and the French that possibly were in the Rhineland. Now Germnay's borders are starting to expand. -
Hitler Wants Austria...Hitler Gets Austria
Hitler wanted Austria very badly. To get it he played more of a physcological game, not just throw soldiers in there and fight to the death for control of Austria. On February 12, 1938, Hitler met with the Prime Minister of Austria to talk about joing, Germany and Austria. Prime Minster Kurt Von Schuschnigg of Austria said no to this alliance. ABout a month later on March 11, 1938 Hitler and his men went into Austria and had a vote with Austria if they wanted to join Germany, 99.7 said yes. -
Beginning of German/British Relationship
Hitler was now after Czechosolovakia and the Sudentenland (area near Czech), he wanted more and more. Czechosolovakia was not a very strong contry compared to Germany, so they looked to their allies (France, and Britian) for help agaist Germany. Prime Minster Neville Chamberlain of Britian, did not want to have to go to war with Germany, so they decided to negociate and appease the Germans to keep they happy for now. Hitler would not agree to anything Britian offered. -
Munic Meeting
This meeting was called by Mussolini (Italian Leader) to settle the debate between Germany and Britian. This was going to be a meeting to appease Germany to prevent a war. Germany, Britian, Italy, and France all were in attendance. The conclussion was Germanny got the Sudetenland, as long as this was their last land to be taken. -
Declaring War
This was a very suprising day for all of Germany, it is the day Hitler declared war on Poland, and the day France and Britian declared war on Germany, World War II had started. Hitler went into Poland, and gained control of the country in a mere 18 days. The German empire is stretching greatly, and rapidly. They bombed Piotrkow (a city in Poland) and than sent soldiers in to capture it, and take all of the Jews out and into concentration and death camps. -
Polish children are Shipped Off
Heinrich Himmler is the man responcible for the departure of all the Polish children. He wanted to turn every Polish child into a "true ayran." To do this he sent them to German to basically be "reeducated". All of the boys were sent to Germany and made into soldiers, and taught to praise Hitler. All of the girls were sent to Germany and taught to be a mother. This was better treatment than the Jews got however. -
Hiter Takes the West
By this date Hitler had taken, (from the west) Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, Luemburg, and most importantly France. Germany was on its way to conquering all of Europe. In Most of these places the Nazis had SS officers be leaders, and be seen as a Government figure. One of the last remaining countries (free of Germany) was Britian. Winston churchill is now their new Prime Minister, and he said he would do what evr it takes to stop the Nazis. -
Invading Russia
Hitler had done what he wanted in over 10 countries, but not Russia. He wanted to get his men in there and mass murder the Russian-Jews. One of Hitler's men, Goering, used the word exterminate while describing the objective of the Russian Invastion. By the end of 1941 GErmany had killed more than 700,000 Jews. The Russian Jews were not aware of the power of Germany, and the Concentration Camps. -
Here Comes America
America joined the war because of the bombing on Peral Harbor by the Japanese. On Decemebr 8, 1941 the United States declared war on Japan. This got them entered into World War II, because Japan and Germany were allies. Japan asked for Hiter's support in fighting the powerful United States, this is how all these countries got connected. -
Causing the Formation of The Grand Alliance
When Hitler declared war on the United States he caused one of the great alliances in history to be formed. This was the alliance of Great Britian, United States, and Soviet Union. All three nations had a common enemy in Germany, and one common goal: to put an end to Nazi Germany.
