    Proclamation
    In 1763 the British started a Proclamation mostly to stop the Indians from being angry and to make sure the settlers arent talking over their land. Many british colonists objected to the proclamation boundary.
  • The Sugar Act

    In 1764 a law was passed by the British Parliament raising duties on foreign refined sugar imported by the colonies so as to give British sugar growers in the West Indies a monoply on the colonial market. Colonial merchants began to protest.

    1764.The Stamp Act required that deeds, almanacs, newspapers, advertisements, playing cards and the like display an official stamp.A Stamp Act Congress, attended by representatives from most of the colonies, they said that English colonists retained all the rights of Englishmen including the right to trial by jury ignored by Vice Admiralty Courts and that only colonial legislatures could tax colonists. The colonists didnt like the stamp act so they boycotted British goods.

    Britian requires colonists to help house and care for soilders in private homes which was the Quartering Act. Colonists think this is a hidden tax and violates their privacy, so they were upset. This occured in 1765.

    Even though there was large-scale fighting between American minutemen and the British redcoats, it did not begin until 1775, the 1770 Boston Massacre gave each side a taste of what was coming next. The Boston Massacre was a riot in Boston (March5,1770) from the resentment of Boston colonists and British troops quartered in the city,the troops fired on the mob and killed several people. The reaction was the colonists got very angry and the British sent more troops.

    The Boston Tea Party was a raid on three British ships in Boston Harbor on December 16,1773.The Boston colonists ,disguised as Indians,and threw the contents of several hundred chests of tea into the harbor.They did this as a protest against British taxes on tea. It happened because they were putting unnessary texes on tea. The British shut down the Boston court and the colonists couldnt get any supplies so people helped them.

    The Inrolerable Acts were a series of laws passed by the British in 1774 in an attempt to punish Massachusetts for the Boston Tea Party. The American colonists continued to have a rebellion.

    In 1775 congress passed a resolution named the Olive Branch Petition which they sent to the king. They told him that they were still loyal to him and asked him to stop the fighting so they could solve their problems. King George ignored the petition and sent more soilders to America.

    This event was aproved by congress on July 4th 1776. The colonists wanted to create a new nation separate from British rule. The colonists were happy because they were tired of British rule.

    This event occured in October 1781, the Americans and French trapped the British at Yorktown causing the Bristish commander to surrender.
  • The Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris was an agreement that occured on 1782 and the Treaty was aproved by congress in 1783. The Treaty ended the war between America and Britian, and Britian recognized the independence of the United states.
