    Lexington and Concord
    This is the first battle between the Patriot minutemen and the British Red Coats. The minutemen push back the Red Coats and the British do not obtain Patriot weaopns. Paul Rever is able to warn Patriots of approaching Red Coats.

    In this meeting the Patriots decide they must declare independence and create the Continental Army that is led by George Washington.
  • Battle at Bunker Hill

    Battle at Bunker Hill
    The patroits build a dirt fort and are fired upon by the British. The British have multiple casualties but Patriots flee due to a lack of ammo. This is a morale boost for colonists.

    This book excites the colonists and persuades them to join the cause of the revolution and fight.

    This document stated men have the right to rebel agaisnt their government.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    Through July 1-4 congress revises the document and then eventually adopts it and sends it to the printer.
  • Battle at Long Island

    Battle at Long Island
    Washington and his army is defeated by the Red Coats and he flees to Manhattan. They were then attacked by General Howe. General Howe takes control of New York.
  • Battle at Trenton

    Battle at Trenton
    The Patriots led by Washington attack on Christams night and capture 1,000 Hessian soldiers. This starts a new type of warfare and that is sneak attacks.
  • Saratoga

    Saratoga
    Burgoyne fights against the patriot leaders General Gates and Benedict Arnold. Arnold defies orders and starts the style of gorilla warfare and shoots a Brittish officer. The Patriots win the battle and Burgoyne is taken prisoner and Howe resigns.

    Washingtons army settles down for the winter in Valley Forge. In 3 months 1,000 patriot soldiers die due to the cold and diseases. Lots of other soldiers abandon the war and 200 officers leave as well. The soldiers that are left have little food and threaten to leave.

    Because of the victory at Saratoga France decides to aid the patriot in their fight against the British. They do this for economic opportunities and revenge for the 7 years War.

    Henry Clinton takes control of the British Army after the resignation of General Howe.

    Red Coats occupy Savannah Georgia in order to take over the south and ruin the patriots economy of cash crops.

    Spain joins the war in order to gain Florida and a piece of Port in Gibraltar. Spain sends a naval fleet and it pushes the British boats North.

    This Proclamation was put in by the British to make slaves abandon plantations for freedom under the British. They did this to hurt the Patriots economy and cause social instabvility.

    Clinton invades the Patriot port of Charleston and defeats the Patriots. This is a major blow to the coloniots morale and economy.

    Cornwallis is surrounded by the Patriots and French and surrenders.

    This is signed by the Pariots and the British and it calls for peace and the British evacuatioin of the colonies.

    This Treaty between Britain and the Americans recognized the Americans as independent.
