  • Proclimation of 1763

    It dampened the mood of the colonists on the end of the French and Indain war, no letting them settle on the new land concoured in the war. It also created four new colonies, one of which was only added to the British empire (Quebec, West Florida, East Florida,
  • Treaty of Paris

    British Victory over the French and Spanish (joined at the last two years of the war). Britain got all land east of the Mississippi river, France gave up New orleans and Louisiana to reward for their help.
  • Sugar Act

    Parliament passes the Sugar Act, causing a tax on sugar, molasses, and other products imported into the colonies. Merchants caught smuggling in goods were heavily penalized, and this caused anger for many who did smuggle.
  • Quartering Act

    Parliament passes the Quartering Act, requiring colonists to allow, and welcome British troops into their homes, feed and tend to them as needed. Few colonists followed this law, not opening their doors to the British.
  • Stamp Act

    Parliament passes the Stamp Act, causing any legal document to be stamped, showing a tax being paid for it. The colonists didn't enjoy this act, due to the fact that they weren't being represented in Parliament.
  • Boston Massacre

    Colonists protest against Btritish. The British held their ground as the protest broke into a riot, throwing objects at the British troops. The troops react and fire into the croud, against orders and five die.
  • Boston Tea Party

    A group of men dressed up as Native Americans and boarded three ships, throwing the tea into the harbor. It was the colonists' way of protesting the Tea Act, which posed a tax on tea. It angered them from the fact that they weren't being represented, no matter how small the tax was.
  • First Continental Congress

    Delegates from all colonies, not including Georia do to its distance, met in Philidelphia. The delegates voted to ban all trade with Britain until the Intolerable Acts were repealed. They also said that each colony to train troups.
  • Intolerable Acts

    the Colonists had given it its name and reputation. To summarize, the Acts destroyed the benefits of the war for the colonists.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    British troops move from boston to Lextington and Concord in an attempt to destroy the amunition suplies that the militia had stored up. At Lextington, a fight broke out and the British took a victory, but were forced to retreat at Concord. Paul Revere, one of the riders who rode out the night before to warn of the British marching, grew famous for his ride, but didn't finish a he was captured between Lexington and Concord.
  • Second Continental Congress

    The Second Continental Congress meets, deciding on either peace or war. They tried multiple ways for peace, but they all failed. The only option left was war.
  • Common Sense

    Thomas Paine wrote this pamphlet, proclaiming that a break from Britain was needed, and the only way to end all the tension. He called that kings didn't rule by the will of God, but by their own will. His name for King George III wwas "the Royal Brute".
  • Declaring Independance

    The Second Continental Congress adopts the Declaration of indepencance, saying they didn't belong to Britain anymore. They staited their rights, sending copies to a plethora of nations to show they meant it, and to their civilians that they were an example to follow.
  • Yorktown Victory

    British occupy Yorktown under General Cornwallis. He uses the town to get suplies from New York and the South. French move naval warships to block out Chesapeake bay. Washington and Greene move their troops to the city and begin the raid, the French keeping out reinforcements. Cornwallis surrenders his army of around 9,000 men, ending the fight in the American colonies. British focus their efforts to reclaim what was taken from them elsewhere in the world.
  • Treaty of Paris of 1783

    The war was officially ended, with the defeat of the British. Americans are free, north of Florida and south of Canada. Receives right to fish off Atlantic coast of Canada. Britian must return slaves captured (didn't really do so). America must return confiscated properties from Loyalists. East of Mississippi it American owned land. Americans create a republicanism govornment. 25,700 americans die, 10,000 British die. USA has $27 million dollar debt. USA pays some troops with land.
