  • The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War
    On May 1, 1753 the French and Virginia both claimed the land between Lake Erie and the Ohio River. The French got the fort but Virginia kept fighting. After that large French armies made Washington surrender his other fort.
  • The Quartering Act

    On March 24, 1763 the quartering Act was made. The Quartering Act was meant to save money and what had to happen was for all of 10,000 soldiers to be housed. Along with being housed the soldiers had to be given food and supplies. After it was made no one took it away.
  • The Sugar Act

    On April 5, 1764 the British Parliament passed the Sugar Act. The Sugar Act put taxes on Sugar. Even though it made sugar cost less the people still didn't like the Sugar Act so people started smuggling sugar, and there were many protests. The act did not last long because a little later the Act got taken away.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    On March 27, 1765 the Parliament made the Stamp Act. It was made so that everyone had to put stamps on most documents. Merchants in some colonies had a boycott of British goods. Many important colonists made speeches to try to get rid of the act because they didn’t like it After that when none of that worked delegates from 9 colonies sent a petition to the King to get rid of the act, and it worked.
  • The Tea Act

    On April 27, 1773 the Tea Act was made by the British Parliament. It was supposed to help the British East India Company, and Frederick North thought that people would like it because it lowered the price of tea. The Act made the British East India Company a monopoly which hurt colonial merchants; so many colonists hated the Tea Act. After that the Boston Tea party happened so they could fight the act.

    On December 16, 1773 the Sons of Liberty wanted to show how much they hated the Tea Act. So they went on board a ship full of tea and disguised as Native Americans they threw tea in to the water. They threw 342 cases of tea which was 90,000 pounds. They fought for themselves and other colonists and they got what they wanted. After that they got punished with more freedom go taken away.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    On March 28, 1774 the Intolerable Acts were 4 acts made to put the colonists in a better place. The first closed the British port, the second helped increase the governor's power, the third made the governor able to move trials to other places, than the last helped the military. The colonists were afraid that the British would take away more of their rights so they couldn't do anything. After that the acts kept moving farther to other places.
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill
    On June 17, 1775 there was The Battle of Bunker Hill. The battle was between The Americans and the British, because the Americans had surrounded the British. The British attached going up the hill and the Americans were at the top. The Americans had run out of ammunition so Washington surrounded the British with cannons, making the Americans win.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    On July 4 in 1776 the Declaration of Independence was made so the colonists could show how they felt about their freedom. It was made by the colonists so they were happy with it. After that Declaration of independence people have looked back to that day and celebrated what had happened.
  • The War Spreads West

    Around 1776 the war spread west which made more people side with the British. When it spread west smallpox started spreading and killing the Native Americans. The colonists reacted by fighting the British in Ohio Valley. After that the army got help from Spain.
  • The battle of Long Island

    The battle of Long Island
    On August 27, 1776 there was the Battle of Long Island. It was between The British and Washington's troops, what happened was the British took Brooklyn. Then a little later Washington needed to leave New York City. That affected the colonists because they lost that area of land. After that the British kept moving and taking more land.
  • Teh Battle of Trenton

    Teh Battle of Trenton
    On Christmas, 1776 there was the Battle of Trenton. The battle happened because Washington needed a victory to convince people to come back to his army. Washington planned a surprise attach which is what made him win. Because of that win the colonists reacted by coming back to the army. After that the army fought better because they had more people.
  • The Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga
    During October in 1777 Burgoyne wanted to separate New England from all the other states, though his plan did not work. The colonists reacted by surrendering. After that their army kept getting worse and so latter they got help from Europe.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    On November 6, 1781, the Battle of Yorktown started. The war happened Cornwallis moved his troops to the coast of Virginia for supplies but then the French surrounded. What happened during the war was the Americans and French bombed Cornwallis. The colonists were affected because they helped bomb them. After that that was the last war in the Revolutionary War.
  • The Treaty of Paris

    On April 15, 1783 the treaty of Paris was made because the Parliament wanted peace. The treaty made Britain recognize the independence of the colonists. After that the war was over because there was peace.
