    The French and the British were fighting for more land in the colonies. The Native Americans sided with the French.

    It was a tax that Americans had to pay for the soldiers that protected the colonies. This made the colonists angry, and they protested.The tax was put on papers and other documents.

    The Boston Massacre
    A man was insulting a soldier and the soldier hit the boy. Then a group of men surrounded the soldiers and started to throw snow ad insults at them. When one of the nine soldiers fell to the ground, the other eight shot into the crowd, killing five men. It happened because the colonists were mad about the taxes.

    A group of colonists dressed as Native Americans poured tons of tea over board a ship which belonged to the East India Tea Company, because they were mad about the taxes. This led to the Intolerable acts.

    The British closed the sea ports and cut off self government becasue they were mad at the colonists for throwing all the tea (the Boston Massacre) into the water. The governor could also move where the trials take place. This also angered the colonists.

    When the governor heard about the minute men storing arms about 20 miles from Boston he sent 700 men to take away the arms and capture the important leaders. Paul Revere and William Dawes ran through towns in the night to warn other minutemen. When the British told them to go home, they refused, and a shot came out of nowhere. That was the first shot of the Revolutionary war.
